One Garden Brighton Supper Club Review

14 Mar, 2025

Discover Brighton were invited to Supper Club at One Garden last month. These regular events are a collaboration of delicious seasonal food and beautifully crafted drinks, on this occasion Need were at the epicentre of celebration

The invite promised a multi-course menu designed by Need’s Head Chef, from their Need Coffee Bar and Kitchen, featuring fresh, seasonal ingredients and a creative take on classic dishes and we were delighted by the prospect.

As we approached One Kitchen the unrestricted views from the floor to ceiling windows revealed a vibrant selection of guests and hosts who gave us a warm welcome from the moment we entered. The tables are arranged with socialising in mind and we quickly introduced ourselves to our fellow diners who were friendly and slightly lubricated on the welcome glass of bubbles courtesy of the Plumpton Estate. More cheer followed when we were  presented with an espresso martini made with Need coffee beans, no empty glasses here! The vibes were immaculate as we eagerly awaited the food.

We chose salmon mousse and cucumber gel, with sourdough to start, which was silky smooth and delicate. A delicious and light precedence to the main, of herb crusted lamb rump, braised chicory, anchovy emulsion and salsa verde. The meat was cooked rare and cut like butter, this was a small plate to remember and we savored each bite washed down with a wine pairing once again courtesy of the Plumpton Estate.

Then it was time to hear from our hosts Jack and Natalie, founders of Need, who were thrilled to announce the opening of their first venue; Need Coffee Bar and Kitchen, located close to their roastery in East Sussex. This new space is a natural extension of their vision for the brand, they explained, “We wanted to create a place where people could slow down, savour the moment, and find joy in life’s simple pleasures. With amazing coffee and a delicious menu, Need Coffee Bar and Kitchen is our way of bringing that experience to life.”

The evening was rounded off with chocolate delice, honeycomb, with bay leaf ice cream, a decadent end to a decadent evening.
