Brighton Open Air Theatre 2025

29 Apr, 2025

Friday 2 May – Sunday 21 September 2025

Brighton’s only outdoor theatre, BOAT, opens for 2025 Summer Season

The premiere purpose-built outdoor venue in Sussex – Brighton Open Air Theatre – opens its gates once more on 2nd May for a jam-packed summer season, filled with over 70 productions across theatre, music, comedy, dance, drag, opera, family shows and more.

The summer kicks off with a packed bank holiday weekend featuring Motown classics, improvised whodunnits, wrestling superstars and some magic! Throughout May there is an avant-garde flavour, courtesy of Brighton Fringe, peppered between belting musical numbers and some family favourites, including a brand-new version of A. A. Milne’s Winnie The Pooh.

June and July sees longer runs of plays including I, Joan, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, The 39 Steps, Oh! What A Lovely War and Macbeth. There is also the annual Summer Comedy Festival, programmed by Funny That Comedy, featuring A-list comedians and selling fast.

In August, Drag in the Park: Pride Edition celebrates Pride Weekend, and there’s drama from Cinderella, Moby Dick and Twelfth Night. As ever, there are some huge musical acts, plus opera, improv comedy, and a wonderful new production of Tennessee Williams’ Suddenly Last Summer. BOAT winds down in September with music, fairy tales newly-told, and a fire-breathing Faustus!

BOAT’s General Manager, Will Mytum, said “We always aim to deliver the very best productions for our audience, whilst maintaining a balance of supporting local artists, and keeping prices keen. It’s wonderful to welcome new visitors each season as well as our loyal regulars. In our 11th year of operation, we value the support of everyone who performs, volunteers and attends BOAT. Pack a picnic, top-up from our bar, book a show and enjoy!”

BOAT’s 2025 Summer Season runs from Friday 2nd May to Sunday 21st September. Tickets for all performances are available at www.brightonopenairtheatre.co.uk
