Dine Al Fresco in Brighton

30 May, 2025

Brighton is famous for its vibrant culinary scene, and when the sun shines, there’s no better way to enjoy it than dining al fresco. Whether you’re after sea views, hidden courtyards, or lively street-side tables, Brighton has plenty of open-air dining gems to discover

For an unbeatable seaside atmosphere, Riddle & Finns on the beach is a must. This seafood restaurant offers a luxurious menu and uninterrupted views of the sea, perfect for a sunset dining with a glass of something sparkling.

In the heart of the Lanes, Plateau delivers contemporary small plates and natural wines with a side of people-watching. Their pavement tables are ideal for soaking up the buzz of the city while enjoying French-inspired dishes.

Just around the corner, The Flint House boasts a rooftop terrace that’s perfect for summer evenings. Expect creative cocktails and sharing plates in a chic, urban setting.

For something more relaxed, head to Café Rust in Hove. With its beautiful walled garden and rustic vibe, it’s a peaceful oasis for brunch or lunch, away from the hustle and bustle.

Tucked into one of Brighton’s iconic seafront arches, The Winkle offers a flexible dining, drinks, and event space, just steps from the sea. Its sunny patio seats 40, perfect for casual brunches, lunches or evening meals with sunset views.

If it’s a relaxed vibe you crave with uninterrupted sea views then head to Zip Wire next to The Palace Pier. There’s an upstairs area complete with bar where you can enjoy light bites, coffee, beers, wines and spirits.

The Joker on London Road has a fine upstairs terrace perfect for devouring those Lost Boy’s chicken wings and sipping some expertly shaken cocktails – it’s the perfect sunny spot to catch those last rays.

Finally, if you’re looking for a truly unique experience, check out Shelter Hall on the seafront. With communal tables, multiple kitchens, and views over the beach, it’s a lively, flexible spot that caters to every taste.
