Cooler than you: Adam Lawton

30 May, 2025

This month we chat to Adam Lawton who specialises in male hair replacement at his Brighton salon Aura Hair.

Tell us about your business? Aura Hair is a collaborative space for hair professionals looking to have a base while still having the freedom to run their own business. We want to be a space that encourages and supports all hair freelancers, whether you’re an established business or a new freelancer. We also want to help create opportunities for our professionals where we can by sharing knowledge and experience within Aura Hair.

One of your specialities is male hair replacement – how does this work? Male hair-replacement systems are a fantastic alternative to invasive surgical techniques. The only option that guarantees 100% results, MHRS are truly versatile as well as being undetectable. With a wide range of different base options and full customisable hair colours (including grey/white percentages) as the hair used is human hair, you can have a full head of hair in just a few hours, with no healing time and no pain.

Do you feel that this service changes lives? I can categorically say it does. I have had clients that have been wearing MHRS for over 30 years;
others who visibly change their demeanour after an appointment and are smiling from ear to ear. Hair loss in men is often seen as a factor that ages a person, sometimes prematurely. MHRS can make you feel your true age, maybe even younger. They’re extremely versatile with their styling options as well and almost anyone can wear a MHRS.

We hear you also make wigs? I am able to make what I call ‘day-to-day’ wigs. These are great for those who have a need/desire for a wig, but maybe a full lace wig is too much or out of their price range. This is a service that can be created using human hair, so they can be fully styled and toned to enable you to change up your look.

Tell us three things you love about Brighton? The sheer volume of things to do here, the beach and the eclectic types of people who reside here.
