Outpost Drive – A day in the life

Outpost Drive

This month, Liberty Music PR ones to watch Outpost Drive, a folk Brighton- based duo, share a day in the life with us.

Hey, we’re Outpost Drive, and this is a typical day in the life for us in beautiful Brighton. Most of the time we’re on tour, so when we actually get to spend time at home, an ideal day starts at our favourite café, Marmalade. The amazing atmosphere never fails to put a smile on our faces, and all the lovely people who work there have become dear friends.

If we’re feeling like an extra energy injection, we sometimes grab a second (third) coffee from Portland – their drinks are heavenly – and then pick up a loaf of warm bread from Open Bakery. Seed & Sprout is where we buy our fresh produce and enjoy some welcome banter with local legend Paul. Basically, the entire neighbourhood is one constant temptation, with enough coffee, cake and food shops to lure you for a lifetime.

The rest of our day is spent working on music. We have a little home studio set up in our apartment where we begin the writing and recording process, alongside making headway on all the admin that comes with being independent artists. Thankfully, there’s nothing like the sea to clear your mind between long work sessions, and our music has definitely started to be influenced by the serenity – and sometimes chaos – of the vast, ever-changing horizon.

Outpost Drive

In the late afternoon, you might see us on the seafront heading towards the gym, where we both like to work off some steam. The long walks are fertile ground for new ideas, talking about life and hashing out whatever’s on our minds. Sometimes we walk in the sunshine, sometimes we’re nearly blown off our feet by wind and rain.

Our new favourite way to spend an evening has been eating at Nanima, a beautiful little homegrown, family-owned restaurant serving some of the best Asian food in all of Brighton. If we can’t muster the energy to cook, that’s our first stop. They play incredible music while you eat – sometimes you might even hear a band called Outpost Drive!
