Brighton Girl Awards 2026

Brighton and Hove is full of brilliant women, makers, leaders, creators, carers and community champions. Each year one woman stands out as someone who lifts others up, makes a real impact and embodies the city’s generous, pioneering spirit.

For 2026, the Brighton Girl Awards’ headline category, Brighton Girl of the Year, has drawn a stunning group of nominees whose collective story reflects what makes our city so special.

Sponsored by Gold Arts Jewellers, this award celebrates kindness, courage, creativity and contribution, qualities that make Brighton a place people are proud to call home. From community organisers to creative voices and local changemakers, this year’s top-10 shortlist offers a snapshot of the women shaping life in the city.

Lyndsey Clay: A recognised community builder and advocate for inclusive spaces in the city.

AFLO. The Poet: A celebrated spoken-word artist whose work resonates deeply with local audiences.

Natasha Jackson: Leading creative and cultural initiatives that connect Brighton’s diverse communities.

Ebony Staker: Championing equality and representation through education and activism.

Helene Evans: A respected fitness and wellbeing advocate with a strong community focus.

Tendai Lewis: Making waves with projects that celebrate belonging and creativity.

Vanessa Thomas: Driving positive change in local services and grassroots work.

Tessa Wilson: Known for impactful work in culture and connection around the city.

Colette Batten-Turner: A volunteer and organiser beloved for her heart-centred leadership.

Voting for these nominees has already begun, with residents encouraged to have their say before the field is narrowed to five finalists. The winners will be announced at a ceremony on 19 March at The Old Market, where Brighton’s brightest voices and most innovative changemakers will be recognised for their contributions to our city.
