Kaia Allen-Bevan X Discover Brighton: Fundraising Campaign
Kaia Allen-Bevan is a multi-award-winning TEDx speaker, educator, advocate, founder and director of YouthTheGap, and a multi-hyphenate creative recognised by Forbes and BusinessToday for her “global impact”.
Her work spans racial justice, education reform and community activism, challenging audiences to become “comfortably uncomfortable” when confronting injustice, rather than leaving the responsibility for change solely to activists.
Since the age of 16, Kaia has been calling people in, not out, encouraging communities to move from passive spectators to active participants in creating lasting change. Her message is rooted in the belief that every action matters, whether visible on a global stage or carried out quietly in everyday life.
Crowned Brighton Girl of 2025 by City Girl Network and Brighton Girl Network from 101 nominees, Kaia used the platform not as a personal accolade, but as an opportunity to mobilise collective power and amplify systematically marginalised voices, campaigns and causes.
Before passing the baton to Brighton Girl of 2026, Kaia delivered a speech that left many in the room visibly moved. She admitted that when she first received the title, she questioned whether she deserved it at all, knowing countless women and girls whose courage and resilience far outweighed her own recognition. The difference, she explained, often comes down to geographical privilege and luck.
In particular, she spoke about Layan, a 16-year-old girl in Gaza whom she has supported through fundraising efforts and ongoing communication. Kaia described Layan as a profound source of inspiration and, in her eyes, the true Brighton Girl.
In collaboration with Discover Brighton, Kaia and the team have joined forces to continue raising awareness around global injustice in the spirit of what it means to be a Brighton Girl. Together, they have curated a collection of fundraisers, grassroots collectives and support initiatives serving marginalised communities around the world, alongside individuals and families in urgent need of support.
The campaign encourages the Brighton & Hove community to think more consciously about the power of spending for good, supporting the people, projects and causes that need it most right now.
