BN1 Arts: Creativity belongs to everyone

Brighton has long been the life and soul of the arts scene. But seeking out an affordable, welcoming space to find your feet can be a bump in the road when it comes to trying something new. BN1 Arts Centre CIC is hoping to change that, with a motto: ‘Creativity belongs to everyone.’

Established in 2023, BN1 Arts Centre was created to remove barriers that can make creative opportunities feel out of reach. Now, with support from Arts Council England, the community interest company is launching a programme of affordable and subsidised courses, classes and events designed to bring people together through the arts.

Whether you want to sing, perform, write, learn new skills or simply have a go at something different, there’s an opportunity to get stuck in.

What’s new this September?

Soul A Cappella Family Choir – 11 Sept

No auditions or previous experience required. This multi-generational choir is open to everyone at no fee. Children who would rather not sing can take part in supervised creative activities, enabling maximum engagement for parents and carers.

Singers Night – 12 Sept

More than your average open mic, Singers Night gives performers of all ages the chance to take to the stage alongside the BN1 House Band in a relaxed and supportive setting. Whether you’re a seasoned performer or stepping up for the first time, it’s an opportunity to perform and find your place in Brighton’s music community.

Marketing Your Creativity – 28 Sept

This six-week course covers everything from building a website and developing your brand to promoting your work online. At £30 for the full course, with fully funded places available, it’s designed to make those skills accessible.

September is just the beginning. Stay alert for Youth Spotlight, Writing for Stage, Screen & Book, seasonal showcases and Creative Arts Family Weekenders all coming soon.

As a small Community Interest Company, one of the biggest ways you can support us is by sharing what we’re doing. If you know someone who would enjoy singing, performing or getting involved creatively, please tell them about BN1 Arts Centre. Every recommendation helps us reach someone new who may discover or rediscover their connection and passion for the creative arts.
