Revenge of the Brighton Panto

It’s no secret that I love a bit of campery. Ever since the pandemic Brighton has had a lack of festive entertainment, but fear not, 2023 has this back with added sparkle. I’ll be showcasing my top picks for some Christmassy live Theatre!

First up, Cinderella; Brighton’s Biggest Family Pantomime returns to the Hilton Brighton Metropole from December 20th-30th and promises to be a spectacular new production of Cinderella with all the magic and mayhem “you have come to expect from Brighton’s biggest family panto. You can look forward to rip-roaring comedy, dazzling costumes, stunning scenery, live music, and our usual stellar West End cast” says David Hill, producer. Featuring many of my fabulous entertainment friends; Miss Jason, Allison Ferns, Liam Joseph, and many more, I will definitely be here opening night. Tickets from £8 at eventbright.com.

Next, it’s time for Elf The Musical! Joining us for three performances from January 5th. Taking the hugely loved box office hit movie into the realm of live theatre with original music, high tech props, and producer Jon Conway promised me “Hilarious audience participation and silly fun, a massive LED screen and traveling stage where we can have a massive snowball fight”. Tickets from £26 at brightoncentre.co.uk (some discounted on livingsocial.co.uk).

Cinderella remixed serves as the Brighton Alternative Pantomime, back officially and at its new home Ironworks Studios! This much loved Brighton tradition returns ‘remixed’ with a live band, professional dancers and of course a cast of Brighton’s favourite Cabaret stars including Kara Van Park, Alfie Ordinary, Billie Gold and many more taking to the stage for the week from January 24th. Tickets from £27 at ironworks-studios.co.uk. 25th January is a fundraiser for the Sussex Beacon, ticket holders here will be invited to stay for ‘An After The Ball, Ball’.

SIX the musical, not really a panto, but still a very good camp sing-a-long, so it takes a crown in my round up! We are really lucky here in Brighton to have an extended run of this award winning musical from December 19th all the way through to January 6th!

Double Tony Award winner for ‘Best Original Score’ and ‘Best Costume Design’, winner of the What’s On Stage Award for ‘Best West End Show’ (2022 and 2023), plus a gold disk winning album, this sell-out Tudor take-off has an incredibly powerful message, and is ‘pure entertainment’ (New York Times). Tickets from £32 at atgtickets.com.

I am so buzzed for all of this! See you on opening night at these fabulous Brighton venues!
