Discover chatted to one of the trainers at this brand new fitness hub on Brighton’s seafront based at Sea Lanes open air pool.

SEAGYM Brighton is the fitness studio based at Sea Lanes Brighton. Run by three independent personal trainers (Jamie, Angela and Iain) who collectively have over 40-years experience between them, with personal training and group fitness classes are at the heart of what they do. This happens in the UK’s first and only outside beachfront training space.

They run around 20 group fitness classes a week, from TRX (Bodyweight training), Boxing and Pilates, and they’ve recently added QiGong and Ropeflow as part of their alternative fitness classes in the evenings.

All the personal trainers are independent which means they work for themselves and their clients, rather than for the gym. This ensures the public gets exactly what they want from their training at a cost that suits them. For those who can’t afford personal training, the group fitness classes are the way to go, and up until the end of the year SEAGYM are offering one free community based class per week to ensure fitness can be accessible to all.

The gym also offers discounts to NHS and frontline workers and students. They would encourage anyone who can’t afford their prices to come and speak to them, as they are always happy to work something out. Spaces are available for people who wish to start their personal fitness journey, but ensure you get in quick, January can be a busy month in the world of fitness due to those new year resolutions.

The trainers each have their own speciality, some are bodybuilders, others are professional ultramarathon runners, some only train with just their bodyweight, however they are all fully qualified and insured with many years of experience. Most of them are also qualified nutrition coaches, and some are also physios so they can help with pain and injuries. Costs vary from trainer to trainer but range from £30 – £60 per hour.

The group classes cost £14 for a drop in, or £60 if you purchase five classes in advance and £110 for 10 classes (which works out at £11 per class). They also offer a once a week monthly membership for £40 per month, and at £79 per month you can enjoy unlimited classes.

Start now and if you work hard and eat healthy, you should see a difference within 4-6 weeks. However you should always look at training in the long term, investing now could extend your life by 10-15 years in some cases.

Now, where did we put our dumbbells?
