Radiohead may be taking a break since their ninth album, Moon Shaped Pool, appeared in 2016 but the individual members are doing nothing of the sort. Singer Thom Yorke has enjoyed a successful solo career and guitarist Jonny Greenwood has provided the soundtracks for several critically acclaimed films. The two got together during lockdown with Sons of Kemet drummer Tom Skinner to form The Smile, named after a Ted
Hughes poem, and made their surprise debut in a performance streamed by the Glastonbury Festival. In 2022 they released their debut album, A Light For Attracting Attention, which was produced by longtime Radiohead producer Nigel Godrich. After touring Europe, North America and appearing at the Montreux Jazz Festival, the band released their eagerly anticipated second album, Wall of Eyes, at the start of this year produced by Sam Petts-Davies, who had previously worked with Yorke on the score for Suspiria.
