Yoga & Forest Bathing

28 Mar, 2024

Immerse yourself in the natural beauty of Stanmer Park by taking part in these outdoor yoga sessions and explore surrounding woodland with all of your senses.

Discover peace and calmness in Stanmer Park’s beautiful woodlands and experience ‘Shinrin Yoku’ – also known as forest bathing. A unique antidote to the hustle and bustle of modern life. The walk begins at One Garden, one of Brighton’s most beautiful natural spaces.

These exciting new classes are available to book online now and will be taking place all year during the warmer months. But what does a typical session involve?

Be ready to meet your fellow yogis and instructer at 9.30am at One Garden Brighton and from there you will head into the secluded countryside to practice yoga on a scenic hill. Afterwards your group will hike into the woods to experience Forest Bathing.

The term ‘shinrin-yoku’ translates as ‘taking in the forest atmosphere’ and is as simple as walking through nature and connecting with your surroundings. This practice is proven to reduce stress, improve memory and offer calm and peaceful clarity.

There’s no need to worry about the every changing British weather, as the classes will still take place in light rain and can be relocated indoors, as One Garden provides an indoor space suitable for yoga practice.

What to bring? You need to pack appropriate clothing and please remember the weather can change, and it can be windy on the hills;

  • A minimum one litre of water
  • Sun cover (hat, sunscreen and a shawl)
  • Any medication that you need
  • Tissues and hand sanitiser
  • A warm jumper in case it gets cold

The yoga class is beginner friendly and suitable for all levels although you do need to be fit enough to trek up the hill. Come and meet like minded people and take some precious time to yourself to unwind from the stresses and strains of everyday life and become one with nature.

One Kitchen and One Market offers refreshments and light snacks, brunch and delicious meals if you are feeling peckish after your experience.
