StylePixie: Event Season

We all feel the excitement and hope in the air as the seasons start to soften and we edge our way into warmer, hopefully sunnier days. England comes alive during this time as ‘Events Season’ starts up.

Many of us will have a few exciting dates already marked in our diaries, be that personal and intimate celebrations with family and friends such as weddings, engagements, anniversaries or milestones to grand structured events like Ladies’ Day at Ascot, Goodwood or Brighton or maybe you have a swanky Charity Gala or Ball to attend.

Most women are planners when it comes to a marked event in their calendars, and we move quickly to thinking we need something new and fabulous to wear. But do we? It is easy to be seduced into thinking we always need a new frock for an event, but the reality is these special occasion outfits are the least worn and often the most expensive items we own. They sit gathering dust in a plastic protective shield taking up valuable space in our wardrobes and get worn only a handful of times. Not sustainable, practical or financially viable.

So today we are going to have a look at the thriving business of the rental market. Often one’s mind moves to terrifying bridesmaids’ dresses and ball gowns, which is great if that’s your bag, no judgments here… but the modern rental market is a world away from that. This new direction of circular fashion gives endless possibilities and outfit choices, where brands that may have previously been out of reach can be accessed for a fraction of the price on a loan and return basis.

Everyone from Asos to Harrods is getting on board with this sustainably savvy approach to solving the fashion needs of its consumers, with multiple websites catering to every style and budget. A personal favourite of mine is Hurr Collective, if you haven’t heard of them, I strongly recommend checking out their website, you won’t be disappointed. Here you can easily put together a reasonably priced, top to toe look of designer or high-end pieces.

Not sure what to wear? You are not alone. You can book a Power Hour with me to help to point you in the right direction or a dedicated Personal Styling Session to get you Event ready.

Until next time…
