Howard Hewett and Jeffrey Daniel have sold over 25 million records and collected more than 100 gold, silver and platinum awards since joining the funk and soul group in the 1970s. Daniel is credited with introducing street dance to the UK and taught Michael Jackson how to moonwalk whilst Hewett has recently been voted one of the top 10 greatest male soul singers of all time. Originally created by Soul Train booking agent Dick Griffey and the show’s producer Don Cornelius, Shalamar’s first hit was in 1977. Soon after, singer Jodie Watley joined and, during the 1980s, they enjoyed many chart hits including I Can Make You Feel Good, A Night to Remember and There It Is. The band split midway through the decade but reformed in 2001, recruiting Griffey’s daughter Carolyn as vocalist. On this Greatest Hits Tour they are joined by Gwen Dickey – the voice of Rose Royce.
