Brighton’s Sustainable Fashion Week – StylePixie

Brighton’s Sustainable Fashion Week Is Back Again!

Save the date!

As we think about the future of fashion, our wardrobes and our buying habits, many of us are leaning towards a more sustainable and ethical approach. We realise that the fast fashion industry, if allowed to continue its current trajectory will have detrimental consequences to the future of our planet and the generations that follow us.

I for one couldn’t be happier to know that Sustainable Fashion Week Brighton is back again this year. The brainchild of Susie Deadman and Hayley Franco of the Brighton Fashion Collective, this year promises a week-long program with various events across the city ranging from workshops, film nights, fashion shows, clothes swaps and more.

Sustainable Fashion Week Brighton is a charity backed event (not for profit) and is largely free to the public. It comes together with a growing number of eager fashion volunteers who want to help spread the word on both ethical and sustainable fashion, showing the public at large what is possible when we consider using what we have.

Want to learn some new skills? The ticketed workshops have got you covered. There is a full workshop program where you can do an intro to darning or learn creative machine mending skills. Sewing not really your thing? Well there is also going to be a free clothes swap where you could just find that dream hero piece your wardrobe has been missing.

This now nationwide event is growing rapidly, with over 2500 guests attending last year’s inaugural Brighton offering. The creative team leading the way hope to inspire people to re-learn, re-wear and re-make when it comes to the future of our fashion rather than continuing to fill our wardrobes with quick buy purchases.

The biggest event closes out the week at the Brighton Dome on Saturday 28th September. This is not to be missed and promises an exposé of inspiring fashion activities to enthuse and entice. An exciting array of vendors will be on site selling both sustainable and pre-loved fashion, jewellery and accessories, there will be a stylist corner where you can ask an expert and plenty of visual offerings with flash mob style sustainable fashion shows to keep you interested.

Sustainable Fashion Week Brighton runs from Monday 23rd September – Sunday 29th. For full program details head over to:

Till next time…
