The Go! Team

25 Nov, 2024

Mon 9th Dec 19:30 @Corn Exchange

Initially a solo project by documentary film maker Ian Parton, The Go! Team’s debut EP, Get It Together, was released in 2000 and fused Sonic Youth-style guitars, double Dutch chants, old school hip hop and electro to create something unique. In 2004 the album Thunder Lightning Strike was released. Recorded at Parton’s parents house while they were away, it received widespread critical acclaim and was nominated for the Mercury Music Prize the following year. After being asked to play the Accelerator Festival in Sweden he was forced to assemble a group of musicians and The Go! Team became a live phenomenon. There have been a further six albums in the years since but 2024 is all about the anniversary of the debut, which they will be playing tonight in full. It has been re-released on vinyl and CD with a recreation of the original CD-R version included.
