Mounjaro – A Kickstart For Those Who Need It Most?

30 Jan, 2025

Brighton is a hub for health and fitness, but for some, the journey to wellness feels like an impossible uphill climb. For those dealing with severe health issues, addictive tendencies, or physical limitations, even starting can feel overwhelming, Trust me, I know from the 40+ calls I get each week from men and women looking to change their lives but are too afraid to commit.

Enter Mounjaro, a prescription medication originally developed for type two diabetes, now showing promise as a short-term tool to help kickstart weight loss. While the long-term data for the general population is still pending, I’ve seen firsthand how this medication can help specific individuals transform their lives.

Real Results. Two clients of mine who were in bad shape—one with severe obesity, the other battling food addiction, started Mounjaro under their doctor’s care. The results have been incredible. Both have lost weight, move better, and, most importantly, regained confidence. It wasn’t a magic fix but a tool that helped them overcome the initial barriers to change, and now they are attending the gym more frequently

A Balanced Approach. Mounjaro isn’t a free pass to skip the gym or ignore nutrition if you dive in on it, I must stress ramping up your nutrition and hitting the weights is a MUST!! However, It’s a starting point, definitely not the whole journey. The reason is weight training is essential to maximise its benefits and combat potential muscle loss from going hypocaloric (eating fewer calories than you burn). Strength training builds and preserves muscle and stabilises joints, while a high-protein diet supports recovery and satiety. These are non-negotiables for long-term success.

My Final Tips. Before considering Mounjaro, please consult with a qualified doctor to ensure it’s right for you. If you do move forward, remember it’s just one piece of the puzzle. Combine it with regular weight training, and a high-protein diet. See how I mentioned this again! And a commitment to building sustainable habits.

Brighton is a city of progress and community. If Mounjaro can help someone take their first step toward a healthier life, give them the confidence to step into a gym or put on their running shoes and hit the Park Run 5k, I say let’s embrace it responsibly. Let’s keep moving forward together.
