A trip to the bright side: Brighton Psych Fest 2026
What is psych music? If you take the word ‘psychedelic’ itself, its origins can be traced to two words: ‘mind’ and ‘reveal’. Specifically, it is music associated with altered states of consciousness – an expansive and eclectic style that seeks to enhance, distort or alter the human experience. It takes you elsewhere.
This September, Brighton Psych Fest brings you all the artists needed for one hell of a trip. Think distorted guitars, feverish melodies, punchy or manipulated vocals. Then dreamy harmonies, swirling synths, ethereal rises and hypnotic repetition. Then everything in between. The perfect finale to a summer of love.

Still a fresh-faced festival, just three years in, the all-day, multi-venue event has secured a programme that certainly doesn’t scream ‘newbie on the scene’. With previous bills starring Gong, YĪN YĪN, Gruff Rhys, The Horrors and Temples, this year is already packed with an expertly curated mix of Stereolab, White Denim, Gwenno, Allah-Las, and much more. The selection feels deliberate, chosen with the kind of knowledge that only comes from being properly in the know – music nerds, if you will. But trust me – you’re in good hands. Check the lineup.
Not being confined to a single venue is perhaps another string to Brighton Psych Fest’s otherworldly bow. The showcase takes over some of the city’s beloved grassroots venues: Concorde 2, The Hope & Ruin, Green Door Store, Komedia, The Prince Albert, Volks and Patterns are already confirmed. One wristband gets you into them all, letting you roam between stages from early afternoon into the early hours.

The day meanders through colour and sound, with transformative production that mystifies the spaces we know and love. Voices and visuals turn each venue into its own psychedelic world – enough to surprise even the most seasoned Brighton local.
Tickets are around £50, with NHS and student discounts available – a strong return when you consider the calibre of artists you can catch in a single day. So, if you want to escape the expected, leave the monochrome behind and, most crucially, expand your mind, make the trip.
