Budget-friendly weddings 2026

How to have a Brighton wedding without blowing the budget: You don’t need a £30,000 budget, a stately home or enough peonies to fill a football stadium to have a brilliant wedding. In fact, Brighton is rather well suited to doing things differently – and keeping the bill under control while you’re at it.

Spend your money on things you actually care about: If that’s good food, brilliant music and a packed dancefloor, save elsewhere. Make your own rings with a Rare Thing workshop, add a truly personal touch.

Keep the guest list small: The easiest way to save thousands is brutally simple: invite fewer people. A Brighton wedding for 30–50 of your favourite people can feel far more special than feeding 150 acquaintances. Consider a ceremony followed by dinner rather than paying for an all-day venue. Look at community and event spaces such as St. Augustine’s Arts & Events Centre, or investigate smaller independent venues where you have more flexibility over catering and décor.

Go wild with seasonal flowers: Wedding flowers can swallow a budget surprisingly quickly, so keep arrangements simple and seasonal. Brighton florist Flowers Unlimited is a local option, while Brighton-based Frank Floristry currently advertises a micro wedding package from £350, including a bridal bouquet, buttonhole and table flowers.

Another trick? Forget elaborate table arrangements and concentrate your flowers on the bouquet and ceremony space. Bud vases filled with seasonal blooms can look effortlessly gorgeous.

Buy the dress – don’t marry the price tag: There’s no rule saying your wedding dress has to cost four figures. wed2b Brighton offers bridal gowns in Brighton Marina, while Blessings of Brighton – Wedding Dresses & Mother of the Bride is another local bridal option. Consider sample sales, off-the-peg dresses, pre-loved gowns or even a beautiful non-bridal dress.

Keep the cake simple: A towering five-tier masterpiece looks impressive, but guests are ultimately interested in eating it. Local cake makers including Cielo Cakery and Belle Vue Cakery give you local options to investigate. A smaller decorated cake surrounded by homemade cupcakes or a dessert table can look fabulous for considerably less.

Don’t pay a photographer for 12 hours: You probably don’t need professional photographs of every canapé. Book a local photographer for the ceremony, group shots and a couple of hours afterwards, then ask guests to take over for the evening. Brighton has photographers including Brighton Wedding Photography and Corina Photography to approach for shorter packages.

Finally, make the reception about the party. Choose a venue where you can bring your own playlist, keep décor DIY, skip expensive favours and put your budget into food and music.
