Cooler Than You

29 Nov, 2024

This month Discover was fortunate enough to chat to Santa Claus who took time out of his busy schedule to chat to us over Zoom all the way from the North Pole.

Thanks for speaking to us for our ‘Cooler Than You’ Christmas feature Santa! You’re welcome – Well, I’m not really cooler than you, but I am definitely colder than you as it’s -4 here and I am freezing!  Are you excited about Christmas? Of course! Although it’s bloody hard work organising the good list and making sure everyone gets the presents they asked for. I am really lucky to have a team of elves who help me get everything sorted. And my Mrs Claus who makes sure there’s plenty of Brandy in my hot chocolate to keep the cold out.

Do you feel sorry for people on the naughty list? Absolutely not! Most of them are adults and some are complete a-holes and don’t deserve presents! I usually find that children who are on the naughty list manage to turn things around in time for Christmas. It’s a very exciting time and sometimes it’s hard for kids to behave as they get so hyped up with it all.

Tell us about your reindeers? Donna and Blitzen are really chilled out, they love eating turnips and keep the others inline when they are being frisky. Dasher Dancer and Prancer are complete show offs and keep suggesting we make TikToks of them performing waving their jingle bells around, we have to tell them to pipe down. Vixen and Comet are always flirting with each other and Cupid gets jealous because he wants all the female attention. Then of course there’s Rudolf the poster boy of Christmas, he is the perfect reindeer with his big red nose and lovely temperament.

What would you like for Christmas? World peace? A new pair of slippers and a pipe and of course some cuddles from Mrs Claus when the elves finally go home – makes me a happy man

Tell us three things you love about Brighton? Funnily enough, quite a few of the adults on my naughty list live in Brighton! Some of you are very badly behaved. That said, I love the Pavilion ice skating rink, me and the reindeers sometimes land there for a rest before we deliver all the presents. I also love all the Christmas lights and wish I could stop for a drink in all of the pubs because you have so many amazing ones.
