What’s On Brighton Highlights

5-9/3 @Theatre Royal 7.45pm, 2.30pm (7th & 9th)

Created by Andy Hamilton and Guy Jenkin, who are also responsible for the BBC hit series Outnumbered, this sitcom ran on Channel 4 between 1990 and 1998. Set in the offices of a fictional TV news company, GlobeLink News, it was recorded as close to transmission as possible, giving them time to make use of up to the minute events and provide the show with a greater sense of realism. In 2000 the BAFTA and Emmy award-winning show was ranked 94 on the 100 Greatest British Television Programmes list compiled by the British Film Institute. This year the show returns and, for the first time, is live on stage. The original cast including Susannah Doyle, Robert Duncan, Ingrid Lacey, Neil Pearson, Jeff Rawle, Stephen Tompkinson and Victoria Wicks are back in a brand-new topical commentary on the cutthroat world of 24 hour news written by the shows creators.
