SUMMARY:Andy Zaltzman: The Zaltgeist 2026 – A Second Thwack
DESCRIPTION:Andy Zaltzman: The Zaltgeist 2026 – A Second Thwack. \nFollowing a sell-out 2024/2025 national run\, Andy Zaltzman – host of The Bugle podcast and BBC Radio 4’s The News Quiz\, statistician on Test Match Special\, and champion of Taskmaster series 18 – extends his hit tour into 2026. \n\nFully updated due to the UK and the world both steadfastly refusing to sort themselves out\, Andy assesses the state of renowned planet Earth\, its under-pressure current in-house millennium\, and its most famous and controversial species – the human race. \nWith politicians the world over striving to outdo each other in splattering their people with a cocktail of incompetence\, inexplicability and insatiable dishonesty\, Andy\, the universe’s leading and only 2-in-1 political-comedian-and-professional-cricket-statistician\, harnesses the combined 21st-century witchcraft of A.I. and his live audience.  Between them\, they will concoct vaguely plausible answers to perennially troublesome questions such as What?\, Who?\, When?\, Where?\, and above all Why? \nWARNING: May feature talking penguin. \nPresented by Avalon UK

SUMMARY:Man the Lifeboats
DESCRIPTION:Man The Lifeboats began life in a Skinny Lister shanty-punk folk moshpit in 2016\, and are ploughing their own full-throttle folk furrow\, winning over audiences everywhere and drawing comparisons to Bellowhead\, Oysterband\, the Levellers\, and those folk-punk heroes the Pogues. \nThe second album Soul Of Albion hit #27 in the Official Folk Charts in 2022. Recorded at Rockfield Studios\, it sounds like Led Zeppelin arm-wrestling Shane McGowan in a Birmingham brewery\, like Jimbob and Fruitbat fronting Fairport Convention\, like The Albion Band turned up to 11 with their fiddles on fire\, tonic for these troubled times. \nMTL are hitting the road again in 2026 in a leaner\, meaner and greener duo line-up\, road-testing new songs\, bringing old ones back to life – come and join Rich and Aaron in some of the most intimate venues the country has to offer.

DESCRIPTION:Ida Barr Slipped Disco. \nBrighton favourite\, Ida Barr returns to Brighton Dome with her brand new show\, Slipped Disco. \nIda\, proud OAP and rap star\, once graced the Music Hall stages of the world\, but now she’s out of retirement and mashing up the best of the old-fashioned music hall with the best of contemporary Hip Hop and R’n’B. \nSlipped Disco includes Ida’s trademark singalongs and unique comedy observations about life as a poverty-stricken older woman in modern London’s East End. Trigger warnings\, may contain references to Gaviscon and Deep Heat. An Ida Barr show is communal joy\, with fresh rhythms and bars\, a chance to celebrate the complexity and absurdity of life in the company of a old-time stage pro.

SUMMARY:Liam Francis Dance Company: Alchemy
DESCRIPTION:Liam Francis Dance Company: Alchemy. \nLiam Francis Dance Company debuts with Alchemy: a deeply personal double bill exploring identity\, community\, and transformation. \n\nIn Lyre Liar\, the former Rambert dancer and Dance Europe ‘Dancer of the Year’ nominee\, Liam Francis traverses his journey through dance; with excerpts pieces by Merce Cunningham\, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui and Kate Prince. With vulnerability and wit\, he unpacks the complexities of shifting identities\, the toll it takes\, and the questions it leaves behind. \nThe dynamic and intimate quartet A Body of Rumours\, is a celebration of music\, movement\, and brotherhood. Three young Black men—linked by rhythm\, trust\, and shared histories—move through a choreography that draws from ballet\, hip hop\, and contemporary forms. Set to live electronic music by Chloe Mason\, A Body of Rumours traces a journey from the tensions of isolation\, competition and comparison\, to the joy of connection and the beauty of bodies moving in harmony. \nThis event includes a 10-minute ‘curtain raiser’ prior to the show\, created by Liam and BHASVIC dance students. Liam and the dancers have reworked existing repertoire to re-focus on notions of empathy\, community\, and support. \nAbout Liam Francis \nLiam Francis is an award-winning dancer and choreographer who has gained international recognition through his dancing career with Rambert Dance Company and LostDog. His choreographic work has been presented in numerous cities\, including Hannover\, Rotterdam\, Rome\, Paris\, London and New York. Drawing on his background in contemporary dance\, ballet and hip-hop\, Liam’s practice seeks to explore his eclectic embodied knowledge to give form to human emotions and concepts centred around community\, identity and liminal spaces.

SUMMARY:Franz Ferdinand
DESCRIPTION:Franz Ferdinand bring their electrifying global tour of their sixth studio album\, The Human Fear\, to Brighton Dome! \nEver since their beginnings\, throwing illegal parties in condemned Glasgow buildings\, Franz Ferdinand have been defined by a fresh\, unfading\, forward-facing outlook. A transgressive art-school perspective\, but with a love of a big song. A big riff. A big idea. Somewhat contrary. Unafraid to dance. Unafraid to think. Unafraid to fear.Their sixth studio album\, The Human Fear\, courses with an energy that makes you feel very much alive. Fear makes you feel alive. Awake. A life without fear is a life asleep. Fear is what shows us our humanity. It’s why we search for it in horror films or extreme physical activities. The most life-defining moments are shaped by fear: acknowledging\, accepting\, or overcoming it.Maybe this is a set of songs about fear. But maybe all that chat about Human Fear is superfluous. Maybe this is just a set of bangers from an era-defining band continuing their unquestionably living legacy. Is that something to be afraid of?Living a life awake. There is nothing that makes you feel more awake than The Human Fear. \nPresented by Crosstown Concerts \n

SUMMARY:Jana Horn
DESCRIPTION:Jana Horn + Support \nFrom the first line on Jana Horn’s eponymous third album\, “nothing prepares you for this\, or is a cure\,” the tone is set for a record that is enunciated as it is open. Akin to the desert landscape where it was recorded-Sonic Ranch\, in west Texas-the work’s dry production and use of silence\, ringing guitar and discordant flute\, has a vitality calling back to early Cat Power/Moon Pix. \nRecorded essentially as a trio with Adam Jones and Jade Guterman-how the New York-based band performs-this ten-song album has Horn’s spoken-sung\, stark vocals in useful conflict with the melodic\, earworm quality of Guterman’s bass\, and Jones’ jazz and punk-influenced approach to drums. The flute and clarinet of Adelyn Strei diverges and coalesces\, spirit-like (“Go on\, move your body\,” “Untitled (Cig)”)\, while pianist Miles Hewitt grounds\, sometimes with a single note repeated\, like a hammer on a nail (“All in bet”). This third iteration from Horn reveals the artist at perhaps her most distilled and resourceful\, hitting on a feeling with a touch
