SUMMARY:Moments of Kalmfulness gallery
DESCRIPTION:Kalms Herbal Remedies\, a leading emotional wellbeing brand\, created the exhibition in response to research showing that 42% of UK adults struggle to find moments of calm in daily life. Originally developed as a digital sanctuary\, the Moments of Kalmfulness gallery has now been brought to life as a physical experience on Brighton’s iconic seafront. \nThe exhibition explores the concept of ‘kalmfulness’ – a state of feeling peaceful and balanced amid everyday life – and encourages people to embrace small\, achievable ways to reduce stress. \nKalmfulness can be found in simple\, everyday moments – from taking a few deep breaths to spending time outdoors or connecting with loved ones. This idea sits at the heart of the Moments of Kalmfulness gallery\, which brings these everyday moments to life through calming imagery designed to help visitors pause and reset. \nThe concept is supported by research showing the impact of visual calm. While 65% of UK adults say time outdoors helps them feel more relaxed\, over half (52%) say that even viewing images of nature or tranquil scenes can help them feel more at ease. \nVisitors can explore a carefully curated collection of images capturing moments of peace and tranquillity. The gallery includes contributions from the general public and local creatives\, including the Brighton and Hove Camera Club\, offering a range of perspectives on everyday moments of kalmfulness. \nThe Moments of Kalmfulness gallery is free to attend and open to all from 27th April to 17th May. \nFeeling inspired? \nUpload a photo to our virtual gallery that captures your own moment of kalmfulness to be in with the chance of winning a £450 voucher for a one-night escape at the PIG hotel. Submit your photo at www.kalmfulness.com \nT&Cs: Open to UK residents 18+. The competition runs from 27th April to 17th May. One winner will be contacted on 20th May. Full T&C’s can be found at www.kalmfulness.com/faqs

SUMMARY:The Covetousness (various dates)
DESCRIPTION:08/05/2026 5.00pm – 6pm \n10/05/2026 3:30pm – 4:30pm \n15/05/2026 5pm – 6pm \n17/05/2026 3:30pm – 4:30pm \n  \nThe Covetousness is a rare treasure of Kunqu (Chinese Opera)\, revived from a little-performed scene in The Nanke Dream\, one of the most celebrated classical plays of the Ming dynasty. Nearly lost to time\, the piece survived only through fragmentary manuscripts and scattered oral accounts. Our team spent months researching surviving scores and archival traces to reconstruct the work with rigorous historical care and reimagine it with a vivid contemporary theatrical language. Following its 2025 appearance at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe\, this revival continues its international tour. \nSet in a dreamlike world where loyalty collides with destiny\, the story unfolds through striking physical movement\, expressive gesture and rich musicality. Performed by a Huadan (female warrior role) and Hualian (painted-face male role)\, it presents an unusual and compelling pairing seldom seen in today’s Chinese opera. \nPerformed in a traditional Chinese operatic vocal style with Chinese and English surtitles\, the piece blends traditional operatic singing with clear\, modern staging. Whether you are discovering Chinese opera for the first time or returning as a long-time admirer\, this is a visually captivating and accessible introduction to one of the world’s most refined dramatic traditions.

SUMMARY:Chemistry
DESCRIPTION:Chemistry | ★★★★★ hit comes to the Brighton Fringe: Witty and tender\, Chemistry is a life-affirming love story sparked in therapy. \nSteph’s battling chronic depression. Jamie’s crashed after pushing himself way too far\, way too fast. They meet in a psychiatrist’s waiting room – hardly the stuff that rom-coms are made of – but the spark is instant and undeniable. What follows is messy\, electric and unexpectedly beautiful. When your own brain feels like the enemy\, is falling in love the bravest thing you can do – or the most reckless? \nStudies show that 1 in 4 adults in England will experience a mental health problem each year. \nDarkly funny and deeply moving\, Jacob Marx Rice’s Chemistry is a frank exploration of how we manage love – and life – when we rely on chemicals to keep us balanced. \nMay 15 – 9 PM-10 PM\nMay 16 – 9 PM-10 PM\nMay 17 – 2 PM-3PM\nMay 18 – 9 PM-10 PM\nMay 19 – 9 PM- 10 PM\nMay 20 – 9 PM – 10 PM\nMay 21 – 7 PM – 8PM

DESCRIPTION:Folklore Sessions Presents; The Ocelots\n+ Support\n17th May 2026\, The Folklore Rooms\n£14adv | 18+ \n“Everything\, When Said Slowly is a joy to listen to-a haunting and majestic album” – KLOF \n“Steeped in classic singer-songwriter Americana\, invoking everyone from vintage Neil Young to Sufjan Stevens. ” – UNCUT \nThe Ocelots are twin brothers Ashley and Brandon Watson from Wexford. Building on the folk-rock essence of their debut\, the duo release of their highly anticipated second album\, Everything\, When Said Slowly\, 7th February 2025. This album unveils a richer\, more expansive sound\, masterfully produced by long-time collaborators Cillian and Lorcan Byrne (Ailbhe Reddy\, Susan O’Neill). The narrative woven throughout the album explores themes of Irish migration\, the perception of time\, love\, and the simple joys of cycling. \nBlood harmonies are the centre of The Ocelots’ sound – imperfections of a voice breaking or a tempo shifting. Recorded live in Orphan Recording Studios\, by Gavin Glass (Lisa Hannigan\, BellX1\, David Keenan\, John Grant\, Villagers)\, the band’s performances help form a driven\, energetic scrapbook\, coloured by flutes\, synths\, harmonica and harmonium. The twin brothers blend absurdity and sincerity in an array of literature-inspired musings. Open tunings and clawhammer banjo bring country-folk contemplation\, but the imagery is very much urban\, living outside of the romanticised glaze of wood cabins and cottage-core nostalgia.

SUMMARY:1816
DESCRIPTION:1816 – Hot on the heels of Camden Fringe and off-West End success\, 1816 returns to the stage. It’s Byron and Shelley\, as you’ve never seen them before. \nA Friends meets Frankenstein comedy-drama musical\, from the same company that launched SIX: 1816 is the ultimate origin story of the first modern vampire novel and Frankenstein\, where a group of five Romantics get trapped for a summer they’d rather forget in their storm-swept villa by Lake Geneva… \nTrapped indoors by torrential rain\, legendary writers Byron\, Percy and Mary Shelley and their friends\, Polidori and Claire search for inspiration by the gloomy Lake Geneva. Driven by a desire for escapism\, they challenge one another to create the best ghost story. But things fall apart the longer they are stuck together. Polidori’s diary is brought to life in the 1816: The Year Without A Summer musical.
