They’ll be showing off tracks from their forthcoming album\, Field Conditions and upgraded versions of old favourites\, as well as songs from 2021’s Transmeridian\, including the single\, Australia\, which featured R.E.M.’s Peter Buck on guitar. \nThe four-piece recording line-up of Chris Anderson (aka Crayola Lectern)\, Simon Edwards\, Lindsay Jamieson and Tim Keegan will be augmented by Tim’s son Quincy. \n“These four friends from different musical backgrounds came together originally with the stated aim of ‘creating music to soothe the troubled soul’. Citing influences including Robert Wyatt\, Nick Drake\, Talk Talk\, Lou Reed\, Arvo Pärt and Cocteau Twins\, the band’s diverse tastes are reflected in the music they create.\nDeparture Lounge could be said to embody a lost age of reflective\, experimental pop music which came to the fore at the turn of the millennium with The Beta Band\, Tunng\, Boards Of Canada and Gorky’s Zygotic Mynci.” (Matt Lockett\, Violette Records).

DESCRIPTION:HYSTERIA: Women\, Mental Health & Identity \nBrighton Fishing Quarter Gallery\n20th–25th April 2027\nOpen daily\, 10am–5pm \nPrivate View:\nFriday 23rd April 2026\n7pm–10pm \nHYSTERIA is an upcoming group exhibition exploring the historical and ongoing treatment of women’s mental and physical health\, identity\, neurodivergence\, trauma\, and medical misogyny. \nThe title HYSTERIA references the now-discredited diagnosis once used to medicalise women’s emotions\, trauma\, sexuality\, neurological symptoms\, and distress. By reclaiming the term\, the exhibition seeks to challenge historical narratives while creating space for contemporary conversations around women’s health and lived experience. \nThrough sculpture\, photography\, painting\, installation\, textiles\, moving image\, sound\, and mixed media\, participating artists will respond to themes including medical misogyny\, neurodivergence\, psychiatric history\, inherited trauma\, institutional harm\, memory\, identity\, and recovery.
