SUMMARY:Lemoncello
DESCRIPTION:Melting Vinyl presents Lemoncello + special guests at The Folklore Rooms Brighton on\nFriday 16th October\nDoors Open: 8pm\nTickets: £16.50 + booking fee / £20.50 on the door\nSeated\nAge restrictions: 18+ \nOn Sale Date: Friday 1st May at 10am \nSynths and electronic percussion weaved into organic sounds… \nIt’s hard not to feel seen by Lemoncello\, a band whose live performances and recordings shimmer with the tones of modern Ireland. Their upcoming release\, Perfect Place\, evolves from the band’s folk-soaked roots and confidently explores intricate new shapes. Marking a bold new chapter for singer-songwriter Laura Quirke & cellist-arranger Claire Kinsella\, “Perfect Place” is imbued with assuredness\, featuring full-band recordings that weave synths and electronic percussion into the band’s staple organic sound. \nThrough an intimate and devastatingly personal style of storytelling\, the new album reflects upon the modern tension between togetherness and alienation and the chaos of human nature with radical acceptance and compassion. Perfect Place follows on from the band’s debut self-titled record\, which received critical acclaim from BBC Radio 6 Music\, Clash\, and The Line Of Best Fit. Described as “direct and refreshing”\, and “cathartic” by critics at Mojo and RNR\, the duo speak to listeners in the way that an ex or an old friend might – cultivating a sense of consolation that leaves audiences forgetting there’s a world outside of the venue. Lemoncello’s body of work is equally familiar and confronting\, driven by the palpable chemistry of a long-term friendship.

SUMMARY:Professor Brian Cox
DESCRIPTION:After performing his smash-hit show ‘Horizons’ to nearly half a million people across the world\, Professor Brian Cox is back with his new tour Emergence. \nBrian has appeared in many landmark science programs for BBC radio and television over the last 15 years\, from the Peabody Award-winning Wonders of the Solar System to the world-wide hit series The Planets. \n“I’ve loved creating Emergence – it’s the most ambitious live show I’ve ever written. I’ve been very lucky to collaborate with a wonderful group of scientists\, musicians\, film makers and graphic artists to bring cosmology\, biology\, philosophy and history to the largest and most advanced LED screens available\, with the best sound and lights I could find. I hope the show is an all-encompassing experience\, and I hope it leaves everyone\, whether they love science or music or history\, or simply contemplating the beauty of Nature\, with something new to think about.” \n‘A Jaw-dropping reminder that human life is both irrelevant and hugely precious.’ \n**** The Guardian \n‘Science and cosmology doesn’t get any more dazzling and interesting than this – a wonderful journey through space and time orchestrated by Professor Brian Cox.’ \nDaily Echo \n‘Is your brain hurting yet? Because mine certainly was\, but in beautifully\, mind-expanding sort of way…We came away with a new found of love of the basics of science and maths\, and a thirst to learn more’ Express and Star

DESCRIPTION:Will Samson: \nFolklore Sessions Presents; \nWill Samson\n+ Support from Gareth Dickson\n22nd October | The Folklore Rooms\n£14adv | 18+ \nUnbound by genre limitations\, Will Samson has spent over a decade exploring the spaces between electronic\, folk and ambient sounds focused on immersive listening and analogue recording techniques.?With maternal grandparents born in Chile & West Bengal (subsequently meeting in Kenya)\, Samson has often displayed a somewhat restless nature in both his artistic and personal life. Born in Oxford\, he emigrated soon afterwards with his parents to Western Australia\, where he lived for ten years before returning to the UK. A little over a decade later\, he began shifting between Oxford and Berlin\, then Brighton\, Lisbon\, Brussels and back to the England. It’s clear to see why much of Samson’s captivating work has often explored the nature of identity and belonging. \nWill has released records through labels such as Wichita Recordings / PIAS (Bloc Party\, American Football\, Ride)\, 12k (Taylor Deupree\, Ryuichi Sakamoto)\, Dauw and even UK dance label Aus Music. Tours have included shows with artists such as Ólafur Arnalds\, S. Carey\, Kurt Vile\, Efterklang\, Do Make Say Think and European festival slots at Rewire (NL)\, Explore The North (NL)\, Fusion (DE)\, Le Guess Who? (NL) plus many headline tours across the UK and Europe. Remixes and collaborations include Gold Panda\, Masayoshi Fujita & The Album Leaf. \nPrevious press support has come from BBC 6 Music\, BBC Radio 1\, CLASH\, Mojo\, Uncut\, Record Collector\, Electronic Sound\, KEXP\, The Sunday Times\, Le Monde\, and many more. \n‘A beautiful\, hushed and contemplative record\, the falsetto reminding you of Bon Iver\, the intricacy and tenderness recalling kindred spirits such as Nils Frahm and Sufjan Stevens’ – The Sunday Times \n‘A delicate\, persuasive balance between ambience and formal song structures… Minimal keyboard patterns are infilled with pattering\, glitchy beats… Choir-like wash\, pedal steel and double bass bring further colour.’ – MOJO \n‘Gently cascading acoustics\, country lapsteel and glitchy\, crunchy tick-tocks\, it might not just provide for want of serenity but for want of sleep: all the components shuffling quietly under the crackle of tape-machines.’ – The Line of Best Fit

SUMMARY:Pete Fij
DESCRIPTION:Pete Fij + special guests\nat The Green Door Store on Thursday 22nd October\nDoors: 7.30pm\nTickets: £12 in adv + bf/£14 on the door\nStanding\nAge restrictions: 18+ \nRenowned for his unmistakable voice and wry lyrical touch\, Pete Fij(alkowski) makes a welcome return with fresh solo material – unveiling songs that brim with melody\, wit and understated charm. \nPete first burst onto the scene in the early 90s as the frontman and guitarist of post-shoegaze / pre-Britpop band Adorable\, whose 1993 album Against Perfection\, released on Creation Records\, is regularly referred to as a lost indie classic\, with the band picking up multiple ‘Single of the Week’ awards in the NME\, and topping the Indie charts. Noel Gallagher once told Creation Records’ Alan McGee that dropping Adorable from the label was one of his biggest mistakes\, whilst other artists such as Ash\, Slowdive and Brian Jonestown Massacre\, amongst others\, have all expressed their admiration for the band. \nFollowing this\, he joined up with his brother Krzys to form the One Little Indian band Polak (Swansongs 2000 / Rubbernecking 2002)\, which took in influences from the likes of Sparklehorse\, Radiohead and dEUS\, and led The Independent to call him “the most gifted lyricist since Jarvis Cocker last put pen to paper”. \nThere then followed a musical exile\, after having what Pete now describes as ‘a musical breakdown’ before re-emerging alongside celebrated House of Love guitarist Terry Bickers to release two critically acclaimed albums as Pete Fij / Terry Bickers on 2014’s Broken Heart Surgery\, and 2017’s We Are Millionaires\, winning the Roundtable ‘Single of The Week’ on Steve Lamacq’s BBC 6Music show – “Beautiful” (MOJO) “Unfailingly lovely” (UNCUT) “Stunning” (OHM) “Beautifully constructed” (Q). \n“After years of singing downbeat songs of melancholy and loss\, after waving goodbye to a long-term relationship\, after working at a care home during the Covid pandemic\, after seeing people off from the platform of life as a Funeral Celebrant\, I decided to have a reset.” \nSlinging back on the electric guitar\, ditching the job\, upping the BPMs\, and falling in love again has resulted in Pete embracing his fuzzed-up dream-pop past but also throwing in elements of pop and electronica. \nNow signed to Tip Top Recordings\, the title of his forthcoming LP is appropriately enough ‘Up’s The New Down’ (released 10th July 2026). The first single from the album\, the euphoric ‘Love’s Coming Back’ came out in November 2025\, followed by the dark\, more cinematic track “Cuckoo” in February 2026. \nPete’s lush and rich baritone voice has been compared to Lee Hazlewood\, Lou Reed and Richard Hawley in the past – and fans will be pleased to hear that\, if anything\, he’s sounding stronger\, more urgent and characterful than ever.

SUMMARY:Amy Matthews - Definitions of Toast
DESCRIPTION:Amy Matthews – Definitions of Toast \nTOAST /təʊst/\n(verb): Apply heat and impart irreversible change. Toast can’t be bread again.\n(noun\, informal): Something that’s finished / over\, or doomed to be.\n(noun): The act of honouring a sentiment by raising a glass\, often to new beginnings. \nAmy doesn’t get angry and she’s starting to feel left out\, so she’s on a quest to feel fury; from what she can discern from the world around her\, it appears to be all the rage… literally. \nAmy is navigating the joy of her first queer relationship whilst dusting herself off from a string of several alcoholic partners. You’d think she’d have plenty to be cross about\, and yet\, whilst everyone seems to be more furious than ever\, she just can’t seem to tap into her own anger – so she’s challenged herself to learn. \nThis lack of wrath may also have something to do with a processing lag that is becoming increasingly disruptive – and comical – in her life. Her emotions seemed to be delivered by carrier pigeon\, if they arrive at all. \nThis is a show about being awarded Best Supporting Actor in your own life\, the beauty of fully embracing queerness in your 30s\, and the fact that anger may sometimes look more like nursery rhymes and crying on a bike than punching walls and shouting. It’s worth mentioning that alongside all this soul-searching\, this show also tries to fathom why Amy’s mum has started keeping milk in the boot of her car\, how a potion from 2002 may have cursed the world\, and how a pavement stand-off with a bird became a wake-up call. \nAs seen on: Her 5-star special\, I Feel Like I’m Made of Spiders (ITVx)\, Comedy Central Live\, Gifted (BBC) and BAFTA-winning Scot Squad. \nAs heard on: Off Menu\, Dan Does Dating (BBC Radio 4)\, host of the official English Heritage podcast and writer for Have I Got News For You? (BBC One) \nTour support for: Ed Byrne\, Josh Widdicombe\, Suzi Ruffell\, Tom Allen\, Sarah Keyworth\, Jason Manford\, Tom Davis & Jessica Fostekew. \n“Drily funny and giddily quirky.” (The Scotsman)\n“Combining a relaxed charm with a searing wit\, she makes the deeply personal feel like a universal truth.” (Rolling Stone)\n“Technically flawless.” (British Comedy Guide)\n“Matthews treads the line between stand-up and troubadour.” (Manchester Wire)\n“The whimsy\, the tales\, the cleverness.” (Punchline)\n★★★★★ “Immaculately delivered and written.” (One4Review)\n★★★★★ “Insanely original.” (Broadway Baby)\n★★★★ “Like Lily Allen.” (Broadway World)\n★★★★ (The Skinny)\n★★★★ (The List)\n★★★★ (The Wee Review)\n★★★★ (Ed Review)

SUMMARY:Stornoway
DESCRIPTION:Stornoway \nMelting Vinyl presents\nStornoway + Alice Boyd\nSunday 25th October 2026 at Chalk\, Brighton\nDoors: 7pm\nStanding\n£25 in advance/£29 on the door\n14+\, under 16’s to be accompanied \nFan Club Presale tickets: Tuesday 14th April at 10am\nNewsletter & Album pre-order Presale / Spotify Fan’s First Presale: Wednesday 15th April at 10am\nGeneral On Sale: Friday 17th April at 10am \nDefined by Brian’s ageless\, clear tenor\, Stornoway’s songs are uplifting\, heartfelt\, and dashingly melodic; but the songs are just the start. This is a band that runs on curiosity. Producing their own records\, they take a bespoke approach to each track. With a wonderfully diverse range of instrumentation and an unmistakable joy in the creative process\, every one of their songs is given a very beautiful and carefully considered place to live – musically and geographically\, with recording locations including campervans\, wind-buffeted barns\, chapels and community centres. \nStornoway lit up 2010 with their thrilling debut Beachcomber’s Windowsill\, the culmination of a five-year journey with its starting point in a Freshers week meeting at Oxford University between Brian Briggs and the band’s arranger and multi-instrumentalist Jon Ouin. After connecting with South African-born brothers Rob (drums) and Oli Steadman (bass)\, the band honed its sound and aims\, self-releasing a series of EPs before finally signing to 4AD for the release of Beachcomber’s Windowsill. \nNow\, Stornoway unveils their most ambitious album yet\, Beyonder\, out 25 September on Cooking Vinyl. Widely recognised as a band at the intersection of music and conservation\, the group continues that mission with an album of wild hope\, born from isolation and exploration. Beyonder channels the powers of the natural world to reconnect us\, using music to bring people closer to nature. \nBeyonder is an album for a changing world. It confronts the biodiversity and climate crises\, the rise of divisive politics\, and the toll these pressures take on our minds and communities. These songs are about journeys and destinations\, discovery and choice\, and taken together they cultivate a hopeful state of mind in unsettled times. \nAlice Boyd is a South-London-based musician and sound artist\, blending voice\, synth\, live looping\nand field recordings into immersive folk-ambient performances rooted in deep listening and the natural\nworld.
