SUMMARY:RATBAG presents RATMAGEDDON
DESCRIPTION:RATBAG presents RATMAGEDDON  |  Dive headfirst into RATMAGEDDON\, a surreal\, high-energy comedy adventure from RatBag. Fresh from Soho Theatre’s Comedy Lab\, this work-in-progress blends sketch\, clown\, and character comedy to create a feral\, apocalyptic world where the audience becomes gloriously complicit in the chaos. \nExpect big characters\, bold choices\, rapid transformations\, and joyful theatrical mayhem as two performers push each other right to the edge. With musical madness\, playful rule-breaking\, and unpredictable twists\, RATMAGEDDON invites you not just to watch but to join the disorder. \nUnashamedly silly\, wildly imaginative\, and dangerously fun\, this is cult comedy in the making.

SUMMARY:The Covetousness (various dates)
DESCRIPTION:08/05/2026 5.00pm – 6pm \n10/05/2026 3:30pm – 4:30pm \n15/05/2026 5pm – 6pm \n17/05/2026 3:30pm – 4:30pm \n  \nThe Covetousness is a rare treasure of Kunqu (Chinese Opera)\, revived from a little-performed scene in The Nanke Dream\, one of the most celebrated classical plays of the Ming dynasty. Nearly lost to time\, the piece survived only through fragmentary manuscripts and scattered oral accounts. Our team spent months researching surviving scores and archival traces to reconstruct the work with rigorous historical care and reimagine it with a vivid contemporary theatrical language. Following its 2025 appearance at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe\, this revival continues its international tour. \nSet in a dreamlike world where loyalty collides with destiny\, the story unfolds through striking physical movement\, expressive gesture and rich musicality. Performed by a Huadan (female warrior role) and Hualian (painted-face male role)\, it presents an unusual and compelling pairing seldom seen in today’s Chinese opera. \nPerformed in a traditional Chinese operatic vocal style with Chinese and English surtitles\, the piece blends traditional operatic singing with clear\, modern staging. Whether you are discovering Chinese opera for the first time or returning as a long-time admirer\, this is a visually captivating and accessible introduction to one of the world’s most refined dramatic traditions.

SUMMARY:Gen X Gen Z
DESCRIPTION:Gen X Gen Z | It’s about growing up when your politics at home is miles ahead of the outside world. Imagine being parented by a Mancunian renegade who stays out all night but gets cross when you do. How does it feel being brown with a white mum? How do you know you’ve done a good job as a parent when you left home at 15? Abra thought her mum was normal until she started school and saw that no one else’s mum looked like hers. This show is a part of caravan assembly\, a three-day event that presents contemporary performance made in England to an audience of international programmers and collaborators. The performances are open to the public as part of Brighton Festival and sit alongside a series of industry conversations and discussions for those participating in the assembly. caravan assembly is delivered by Farnham Maltings in partnership with Brighton Festival. \n

SUMMARY:Therapist Zero @BrightonFringe
DESCRIPTION:Therapist Zero @BrightonFringe | After sold-out runs off-Broadway and at the San Francisco Fringe Festival\, award-winning filmmaker and performer Brian Leonard brings his acclaimed solo show Therapist Zero to the Brighton Fringe Festival for 2 shows. Therapist Zero is an unflinching\, darkly funny solo performance about raising a brilliant but troubled daughter and the endless revolving door of therapists who couldn’t help her. Along the way\, Leonard reflects on his own chaotic childhood: smoking by 2nd grade\, being left behind at age five for a family trip to Niagara Falls\, and how that upbringing shaped the parent he became.
