SUMMARY:Willy Tea Taylor
DESCRIPTION:Folklore Sessions Presents; Willy Tea Taylor\n+ Kenan Flannery\nJune 18th | The Folklore Rooms\n£15adv | 18+ \nWilly Tea Taylor is a father\, brother\, and son. His remarkable ability to write subjects in a simple yet profound way makes his songs a great place to lose yourself. Much of that comes from his upbringing surrounded by rolling hills and horses in a small town in California known as the “Cowboy Capital of the World”. \nWilly calls John Hartford\, Roscoe Holcomb\, Bob Dylan\, KISS\, Weird Al Yankovic and Willie Nelson his biggest influences\, but is always quick to advocate for his favorite contemporary songwriters which include Tom VandenAvond\, Nathan Moore\, and his Good Luck partner in crime\, Chris Doud. \n“The Essence of Folk Music in its rawest and most Authentic form”\nKenan Flannery is a 26-year-old award-winning folk songwriter from Dublin\, praised for his “bone-breakingly beautiful” music and a voice with the intensity of “a hundred Irish poets.” Blending his upbringing of Irish ballads with American folk influences\, he’s been compared to John Prine and Townes Van Zandt. He has performed at Electric Picnic\, The Ruby Sessions\, and The Secret Song\, supported acts like The Wolfe Tones\, The White Buffalo and Zachary Lucky\, and completed multiple European\, UK and Irish tours. Following the release of his acoustic EP Old Love Letters early this year and with a new album in the works\, Kenan has been touring extensively and has become known as one of the most unique voices in modern folk music.

SUMMARY:Stefan Mahendra
DESCRIPTION:Folklore Sessions Presents; Stefan Mahendra\n+ Support\nJune 18th | The Folklore Rooms\n£14adv | 18+ \nMahendra’s musical journey began at a piano bench in SouthLondon\, guided by his mother’s encouragement and early classical training. But it wasn’t long before he veered off the traditional path – drawn deeply into the world of jazz\, soul\, andR&B. \nHis early discovery of American gospel greats like Smokie Norful -artists who weren’t just masterful pianists but also powerful vocalists – inspired a deeper passion for both playing and singing. That influence led him to icons like Stevie Wonder\, Marvin Gaye\, Donny Hathaway\, and D’Angelo: legends who built their songs from the keys up\, crafting entire sonic worlds from the piano. It’s this lineage that flows through Stefan’s music – soulful\, grounded\, and effortlessly timeless. Stefan Mahendra has sold out every headline show he has put onto date. His live journey began with a sold-out debut at PizzaExpress Jazz Club\, Holborn in 2022\, followed by multiple sold-out performances at the legendary Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club in 2023. That same year\, he headlined The Lower Third in Soho to a sold-out crowd\, confirming his growing reputation as a powerful live artist. Since then\, Stefan’s profile has continued to rise internationally. \nIn 2024\, he opened for US soul sensation Jarrod Lawson on hisUK tour\, before supporting Death Row Records artist OctoberLondon on his sold-out UK run in 2025. Later that year\, he joine dlegendary soul group The Stylistics on their 24-date UK tour\, performing to audiences across the country. Most recently\, in February 2026\, Stefan supported Joss Stone on her US WestCoast tour – his biggest milestone to date. \nWith a highly anticipated second EP set for release in March 2026\,Stefan Mahendra continues to carve out his space as one of the most distinctive voices in modern R&B and Soul.

SUMMARY:Andrea von Kampen
DESCRIPTION:Folklore Sessions Presents; Andrea Von Kampen\n+ Support\n14th August | The Folklore Rooms\n£14adv | 18+ \nAndrea von Kampen is a Nebraska-based singer-songwriter whose music blends intimate storytelling\, poetic lyricism\, and warm acoustic arrangements. Rooted in the landscapes of the Great Plains\, her songs explore connection-to the natural world\, to one another\, and to the quiet moments that shape us. With over 60 million Spotify streams\, releases on Fantasy Records\, and appearances at some of the most respected folk and Americana festivals\, von Kampen has built a devoted global following. \nHer national breakthrough came early\, earning a Top 10 NPR Tiny Desk shout-out in 2016\, which introduced her thoughtful songwriting to a wider audience. In 2019\, she self-released her debut full-length album\, Old Country\, a collection of reflective folk songs that found success on Spotify and among indie bloggers\, establishing her as an emerging voice in the contemporary folk scene. \nIn 2021\, von Kampen signed with Fantasy Records and released her sophomore album\, That Spell\, further refining her lyrical and melodic sensibilities. The record expanded her reach and led to extensive touring and festival appearances. The following year\, she made her acting and film debut starring in the independent feature A Chance Encounter\, distributed by Samuel Goldwyn. Von Kampen also wrote and recorded the film’s soundtrack\, released via Fantasy Records\, showcasing her ability to translate narrative storytelling across mediums. \nHer third full-length album\, Sister Moon\, was self-released in 2024 and marked a deeply personal and artistic evolution. Inspired in part by the writing of Richard Powers\, the album explores themes of climate change\, environmental stewardship\, and humanity’s relationship to the earth. \nVon Kampen’s 2025 EP\, Before I Buy a Gun\, protests the resurgence of hateful rhetoric in American politics\, offering an urgent yet hopeful collection of songs calling for justice\, solidarity\, and compassion. \nIn addition to her recorded work\, Andrea von Kampen is widely recognized for her engaging live performances. Her shows are filled with storytelling\, humor\, and heartfelt connection\, weaving personal anecdotes and reflections between songs to create a concert experience that feels intimate\, welcoming\, and deeply human. \nVon Kampen has performed at renowned festivals including Newport Folk Festival\, Rocky Mountain Folks Festival\, and the 30A Songwriter Festival. She has toured with a wide range of acclaimed artists such as The Tallest Man on Earth\, Punch Brothers\, Trampled by Turtles\, The Wood Brothers\, Watchhouse (fka Mandolin Orange)\, Darlingside\, Avi Kaplan\, Leif Vollebekk\, and Tall Heights\, while also headlining tours across North America and Europe.

DESCRIPTION:Folklore Sessions Presents; Elephant Kind + Support\nSeptember 14th\n£10adv | The Folklore Rooms\n18+ \nIn Indonesia\, the band have won big at awards ceremonies including The Indonesian Cutting Edge Music Awards and amassed a wealth of nominations at The AMI’s and The Indonesia’s Choice Awards. Their success at home also saw some of the most culturally impactful brands approach the band for collaborations\, working with the likes of Gucci\, Dior\, Vans and Dr. Martens to name a few. \nKevin Septanto and Bayu Adisapoetra make up a trio with Mastro\, working together to create the genre-straddling Elephant Kind sound\, bringing together a multitude of inspirations and styles to craft something remarkably unique. With this new dynamic comes a new writing\nstyle\, with a full band involvement rather than simply a solo entity. The band’s forthcoming project is undoubtedly the start of a new era\, taking on board a fresh creative process to create arguably their most forward thinking work to date. \nWhen it comes to live\, the next year will see Elephant Kind introduced to a totally new audience\, with a whole new country of fans to engage with. As one of the country’s definitive alternative outfits they’re also a go-to support for huge international talent\, touring with the\nlikes of The XX and Franz Ferdinand. This huge presence in Southeast Asia is now starting to translate even more globally with the band’s move to the UK\, something that ignites a fire in Elephant Kind and what will make the next 12 months so exciting.
