DESCRIPTION:Folklore Sessions Presents; Elephant Kind + Support\nSeptember 14th\n£10adv | The Folklore Rooms\n18+ \nIn Indonesia\, the band have won big at awards ceremonies including The Indonesian Cutting Edge Music Awards and amassed a wealth of nominations at The AMI’s and The Indonesia’s Choice Awards. Their success at home also saw some of the most culturally impactful brands approach the band for collaborations\, working with the likes of Gucci\, Dior\, Vans and Dr. Martens to name a few. \nKevin Septanto and Bayu Adisapoetra make up a trio with Mastro\, working together to create the genre-straddling Elephant Kind sound\, bringing together a multitude of inspirations and styles to craft something remarkably unique. With this new dynamic comes a new writing\nstyle\, with a full band involvement rather than simply a solo entity. The band’s forthcoming project is undoubtedly the start of a new era\, taking on board a fresh creative process to create arguably their most forward thinking work to date. \nWhen it comes to live\, the next year will see Elephant Kind introduced to a totally new audience\, with a whole new country of fans to engage with. Growing up in a musical family in Húsavík\, he began releasing raw\, early demos that led to his breakout single\, “Forest Fires\,” which is now streamed over 90 million times. His music draws from influences such as Bon Iver and Adrianne Lenker\, blending gentle folk\, ambient textures\, and emotional honesty. After years of living in Reykjavík\, Axel has returned to his hometown\, where he continues to craft reflective\, heartfelt songs – including new releases like singles “Nowhere” (December 19th 2025)\, “In The Grass” (January 30th 2026) and his upcoming EP\, Fleeing the Shore set for April 24th 2026. DESCRIPTION:Folklore Sessions Presents; Sam Brookes\n+ Support\n24th September 2026\nThe Folklore Rooms\n£17adv | 18+ \n“There are vast emotional reserves at work reminiscent of the great Tim Buckley” – The Independent \n“Nothing really prepares you for Sam Brookes … he is a national treasure” – Folk Radio \n“He excels at propulsive\, narratively rich folk\, delivered in a soaring\, clear-as-a-bell singing voice” – The Sunday Times \nFollowing the release of the album ‘Black Feathers’ the title track has recently been used in Sky’s biggest original Series ‘The Day on the Jackal’ starring Eddie Redmayne. \nMusic Supervised by Emmy Nominated Catherine Greeves (Baby Reindeer\, Killing Eve) Black Feathers released in 2020 was produced by grammy nominated producer Dom Monks (Big Thief\, Laura Marling\, Nick Cave) Brookes was accompanied by a wealth of talented musicians which included Ethan Johns\, Neil Cowley\, Nick Pini\, Daisy Palmer\, Sam Sweeney & Rob Pemberton \nSam Brookes is reminiscent of Tim Buckley as he glides between the lower and upper registers of his four-octave range. His pure voice\, evocative lyrics and soaring melodies have cemented him as a respected figure in the alt-folk scene as an artist & collaborator. Inspired by the British and American folk revivalists of the 60’s\, a sixteen-year-old Brookes began to write and perform while training as a gilder in his late father’s workshop. \nBrookes had begun to receive serious critical recognition when he self-released album\, Kairos\, being acclaimed by The Independent as one of the stand-out records of 2014 and tipped for the mercury nomination.
