Gold Circles, Missed Trains & Solstice Magic

29 Jun, 2025

June gave me something I hadn’t had in far too long – a full 24 hours off mum duty. I went out (yes, out-out) to see Robbie Williams in London…

I sang, I danced, I even treated myself to a last-minute upgrade to the gold circle because, honestly, if you’re escaping nappies and nap schedules, go big. Of course, I missed the last train home, but belting out ‘Angels’ shoulder-to-shoulder with thousands of strangers? Worth every minute.

Back in Brighton, reality came calling. My littlest started nursery (cue tears – mine, not hers), and I returned to the office juggling artist campaigns, rogue raisins and the kind of inbox
that multiplied overnight. To keep myself (vaguely) sane, I took a few sea dips, went back to the gym and indulged in some sweaty serenity at Beach Box Sauna.

My eldest joined Brownies this month. Brownies! So delightfully retro. She marched out of her first session absolutely buzzing, proudly wearing her little neck scarf and brown leggings, giving her brownie salute and testimony.

Mid-month, I celebrated the Summer Solstice at My Little Farm, a beautiful regenerative farm just outside Brighton. There were wildflowers, acoustic guitars and barefoot dancing under that golden, late June sky. It felt like a deep exhale. And just when I thought the month couldn’t get more wholesome, we packed up and headed to Wowo Campsite for woodland walks, fairy lights, campfire chats and, of course, their wild spa – which is epic!

I haven’t found balance. I don’t think you ever do as a working mother. But I’ve danced in a gold circle, watched the sunset on a Sussex farm, cried at a nursery gate, and remembered that sometimes joy is just a Brownie neck scarf, a warm sea dip or a missed train away.
