 JOE JACKSON

Sun 6th Oct 19:00 @Brighton Dome

This Staffordshire born singer-songwriter first came to prominence with his 1978 album Look Sharp which spawned the Top 20 hit, Is She Really Going Out With Him? His second album, I’m the Man, gave him a Top 10 placing with It’s Different For Girls. There’s a good chance he’ll be including these in his solo set, which will be the first half of tonight’s show. The second set features a nine piece band and focuses on his album What A Racket!, the first performance in over 100 years of the songs of forgotten Music Hall genius Max Champion. Music Hall originated in 19th-century London and soon transitioned from pubs to grand theatres where it was enjoyed by commoners and aristocrats alike. Champion’s career was cut short by the First World War but by 2019 enough sheet music had been found to enable Jackson to resurrect these forgotten gems.
