1 Oct, 2023

14/10 Jorja Alice Smith is a singer-songwriter born and raised in the West Midlands market town of Walsall. Writing songs since she was eleven years old, in 2012 her friend uploaded her cover of Labrinth’s Earthquake to YouTube which netted her a manager. In January 2016 she released her debut single Blue Lights on Soundcloud and received 400,000 plays within a month. Her second single Where Did I Go? gained an endorsement from Drake which led to worldwide recognition and interest from record producer and manager Guy Moot, who has signed some of the biggest songwriters in the world including Amy Winehouse, Lana Del Ray and Mark Ronson. Smith went on to tour and record with Drake and was the first independent artist to be nominated for the BRITS Critics’ Choice Award. This month she releases her second album, Falling or Flying, and is appearing at Chalk to promote it. chalkvenue.com
