Reike Facials

Discover editor Sam, chats to Sarah a Reiki facialist to find out more about this ancient healing therapy and how it can benefit you and your skin.

The word Reiki means mysterious atmosphere, miraculous sign. It is derived from the Japanese word ‘rei’ meaning universal, and ‘ki’ meaning life energy. Reiki is a type of hands-on healing that is used to relieve pain and stress. Practitioners believe that energy can stagnate in the body when there has been emotional or physical pain and trauma. In time these emotional blocks can manifest as illness.

Reiki works on the principle that by improving the flow of energy around the body, it can enable relaxation, help relieve pain and speed the healing process. It is thought that people have been practicing reiki for 2,500 years, so it’s fair to say with this age-old tried and tested treatment, you will be in very safe hands. Pardon the pun.

Discover met Sarah, a qualified beauty therapist, who is also a Leith’s educated nutritionist and Reiki practitioner with over 14 years of experience within the wellness industry.

She uses a holistic, hands on approach to skincare, and begins all of her facials with a thorough consultation, creating a treatment plan specifically tailored to your needs, goals and lifestyle.

With a vast knowledge to draw upon and a tool kit of techniques she’s developed over the years, Sarah combines intuitive touch, lymphatic drainage massage, pressure point massage, sculpting massage,  indian scalp massage, facial cupping, sound therapy, crystals, herbs and flowers, Reiki, luxurious vegan skincare, aromatherapy, herbal steam, LED light therapy to create an experience that is truly holistic and healing in it’s approach. And breathe, that’s quite an impressive and extensive tool kit! Prior to each treatment, she will infuse her facials, tools, products and treatment room with Reiki energy, working on the subtle energy body to restore balance and harmony.

Libra Lounge facials are not only healing but are also incredibly effective. With a focus on balancing skin health; while supporting the skin’s natural barrier and respecting the microbiome. The techniques used such as muscle sculpting and tension release technique to achieve her signature sculpted, hydrated, glazed donut glow.

Keep an eye on our socials during October as our editor will be having her very own Reiki facial and will make a vlog of the experience and hopefully come out looking like a glazed donut and feeling de-stressed.  Libra-lounge.com
