MAX COOPER

Thurs 3rd & Fri 4th Oct 19:00 @The Old Market

Born in Belfast to parents of Australian descent, Cooper is an audio-visual artist with a PHD in computational biology. Whilst studying in Nottingham he was resident DJ at a local techno club but in 2010 decided to concentrate on his own music. He merges electronic music and visual art with scientific enquiry through installations, immersive audio-visual experiences and has been voted as one of the Top 20 live acts by Resident Advisor two years running. His debut album, Human, was released in 2014 to critical acclaim and he has provided remixes to a diverse range of artists including Michael Nyman, Sasha and Hot Chip. He recently supplied the music for an environmental video narrated by Greta Thunberg and Pope Francis and became the first techno artist to play the Acropolis in Athens. His 6th album, Unspoken Words, continues his exploration of the intersection between music, art and science.
