Max Kindley Hair Review

My hair had mile long roots, was dry as a bone and in need of some serious TLC. Enter hairdresser extraordinaire, Max Kindley who works out of The Hair Salon based at Blatchington Road in Hove.

Following an initial extensive consultation, Max evaluated the damage and sent me away with some pre-treatment, shampoo and conditioner to strengthen my locks prior to the actual appointment. The products worked their magic and two weeks later I was a slightly more improved version of myself and ready for him to work further magic.

The salon itself is gorgeous, the aesthetic is tons of hanging green plants from ceiling height shelves, huge mirrors and state of the art everything. They even have a proper barista style coffee machine and amazing biscuits meaning you can enjoy decent coffee, not old ground instant beans that taste like arse.

We decided on a honey blonde and I wanted a 70s style cut with curtain bangs. Baby lights with fine slices were added as a whole head, the goal being sun kissed with a root tap to blur regrowth for a more natural look (that’s hairdresser speak). Max rigorously checked on the colour development process throughout as some foils were ready before others. This not only meant minimal damage to my hair but also that I got to sit at the super comfortable wash basin on lots of occasions. These chairs are boujee AF, they have an extendable footrest allowing maximum relaxation. Never have I been more chilled during a hair appointment.

I enjoyed a cheeky fag and another delicious coffee outside in the sunshine while waiting for the remaining foils to cook and soon it was time to begin the cut and blow dry. The transformation was jaw dropping. I swapped bag lady chic for swit swoo, the colour was perfect and so smooth my hair shone. The style was exactly what I asked for and easy enough to recreate at home.

Would I go back? Abso-friggen-lutely, Max is my new hairdresser forever, he really listens and is so knowledgeable with many years experience. I came away 100% happy having got exactly what I asked for and really enjoyed being inside The Hair Salon. It was a much needed pampering session that I will be repeating.
