PLATF9RM / Co-Working In Brighton And Hove

19 Dec, 2024
For freelancers, flexible workers or work-from-home fugitives you can find your choice of memberships and day passes to put you in control of your space and time.

Walk into Platf9rm and the first thing that hits you is the immense sense of space and calm. Working from home can be an isolating experience at times and I was in dire need of an antidote to my own four walls, so the invite to review Platf9rm was a welcome one.

Platf9rm occupies the former council buildings at Hove Town Hall and to say the premises have been transformed is an understatement. The once grey, sterile environment has metamorphosed into a contemporary space with a cool Londonesque vibe. It’s a glow up and then some with huge leafy green plants and pops of vibrant colours.

A tour of the vast ground floor of the multi level workspace, revealed many Plaf9rm members beavering away on laptops. There are telephone box style spaces for private work calls, a silent workroom, lots of open workspaces front and back and a food counter serving all manner of delicious hot and cold drinks,  sandwiches and sweet treats. I quickly came to the realisation this is a space conducive to productivity and focus. Perhaps it’s the collective energy of other working professionals?

The other thing I LOVE is that members dogs are allowed. The space was peppered with sleepy, well behaved pups in all shapes and sizes. Studies conducted (by myself) show that being in the presence of canines boosts dopamine levels and unlocks creativity, and I stand by this.

Everyone who I came into contact with, without exception were super friendly and chatty and this vibe permeates throughout. Spending the rest of the afternoon working from the top of the amphitheatre complete with comfortable cushions was decent. I think I have found my dream office and you will definitely see me floating around from time to time petting dogs, eating cake and typing like a mofo.
