Slide 1928 New App

29 Nov, 2024

Bringing the Fun Back to Dating for 18-28 Year Olds.

It’s fair to say many of us are disillusioned with dating apps. The majority of people, particularly women, are fed up with ineffectual platforms that can leave them feeling disappointed and quite often also disrespected. Unwanted sexual approaches are commonplace, as are time wasters, but in spite of these pitfalls most still feel dating apps are a necessary evil. As the old adage states; you have to kiss many frogs before you find your prince, but toxic toads were never expected.

Slide 1828 offers a solution. This new, ground-breaking app for 18-28 year olds aims to turn the virtual dating world on its head. Slide operates in a similar way to TikTok, and not only is it fun and engaging, it is also safer than its counterparts. User verification with face technology and government approved identification are necessary when signing up meaning zero catfishing opportunities.

Discover caught up with Ethan Martin a Sussex University graduate and the apps creator to find out more…

What makes your dating app different? It looks and feels like TikTok, so you don’t swipe left or right, you slide up and down. A user uploads three to six pictures of themselves and we give guidelines based on science as to which type of images to upload. We have partnered with Spotify so you can also download your personal anthem. Once pictures and your anthem have been selected we make you a reel where your images automatically change from one to the next while your song plays in the background. It is so engaging and fun. I think a big part of why you are attracted to someone is shared music tastes. For example, if you view two profiles of people you are attracted to, one of them has an anthem you hate while the other has an anthem you love, which one are you going to choose? Similar music taste is a key component to forming friendships and relationships.

When someone signs up what safety protocols are in measure? We have partnered with a company called Yoti, who provide ID verification. They work with high street banks and many other high profile businesses. They enable us in less than 30 seconds to verify age and identification which ensure you are not using someone else’s picture or AI, which is a massive consideration nowadays. Only government ID is accepted and you are requested to take a live picture to ensure the ID matches with the image taken. If people aren’t willing to take part in this process they aren’t allowed to sign up to the app, we would question their intentions for not wanting to do so.

Are you LGBTQ+ friendly? Absolutely! We have an ever evolving list of genders and preferences and this can be changed while using the app. We are completely inclusive and totally support our LGBTQ+ members.

Launching in Brighton? Yes, we have 2000 users just in Brighton at this moment and more to follow. The quality of our members is second-to-none and we believe people who sign up are genuinely interested in dating and finding someone special. We have a 54/46 split between male and female users, unlike most other apps who are 70/30.
