Sunday roasts

31 Oct, 2025

Brighton is a town of food lovers and Sunday roasts are an essential part of the culinary scene. The city’s appetite and expectations are incredibly high and, in line with this, venues have levelled up with so many delivering (beyond) a roast lover’s wildest dreams. We have scoured the city to bring you a few recommendations for inspo.

Bohemia

54–55 Meeting House Lane, BN1 1HB

www.bohemiabrighton.co.uk

Tucked in the heart of The Lanes, Bohemia is one of those places where aesthetics and quality shine. Choose between East Sussex sirloin of beef, roast crown chicken, or a vegan option like a garlic & thyme coal-baked Japanese aubergine. Everything comes with towering Yorkshires, golden roasties, seasonal vegetables and house gravy. For those who want the works, there’s the Butcher’s Block for two, featuring multiple meats, truffle cauliflower cheese and pigs in blankets. Offer: until 16 November get a free pint or glass of house white/red wine with any roasts.

The Regency Tavern

32–34 Russell Square, BN1 2EF

www.regencytavern.co.uk

If you want glamour along with your roast, The Regency Tavern delivers. Its interior is lush, with gilt mirrors, velvet seating and a proper sense of show. On Sundays, the roast menu is serious: roast chicken (leg or breast), Hereford beef topside, or a boned and rolled Sussex pork belly with crackling. Vegetarians/vegans are looked after too via a nut roast option. All come with seasonal veg, roast potatoes, Yorkshires and rich gravy (of course).

The Setting Sun

Windmill Street, BN2 0GN

www.thesettingsunpub.co.uk

Perched up in Hanover, The Setting Sun is a gem for sunset views as well as roast dinners. Greedy Boy kitchen takes the helm and reviews praise its Sunday roast offerings: beef rump and brisket, pork belly, roast chicken, and nut roast or vegan parcel. Generous portions, great gravy and often veggie-friendly sides make it a reliable choice for those craving roast but also caring about variety. The vibe is relaxed, welcoming and dog friendly too for many of the outside-of-town dwellers.

Babble

The Beach, Kingsway, BN3 4GP

www.babblehove.com

This seafront venue in Hove is family and dog friendly, and along with providing stunning sheltered views they also serve Sunday roasts. Babble offers a weekly changing menu to celebrate the best of local produce, featuring meats from Barfields Butchers and Trenchmore Farm, alongside seasonal veg from Shrub and Pitfield. A different cut is chosen each week, with options including beef brisket, venison shoulder, slow-roast crispy pork belly, chicken and mushroom, sage & cannellini wellington.
