Two muses. One 15th Century French widow. Absolutely loads of women. Offbeat comedy exploring the radical ladies of the past through puppetry, drag, and special hats.
Christine de Pizan is having a rubbish day. Stuck in the court of king Charles VI, she’s getting frankly despondent at the material realities of being a woman in the middle ages. But not to worry! Ladies Rectitude and Reason, two of the three muses (Justice is on a wicked comedown) have been sent from on high to help her build a city constructed and populated exclusively by women.
This is NOT a flip project for the patch of land out back, but a necessary act of social justice and restoration for the sanctity and peace of women everywhere. But what does it actually mean to be a lady? Who gets to decide? And does it require a special sort of hat? Answers to some (but definitely not all) of these questions at The City of Ladies.
