Truncate at Tide June 2026 | City Wall Records

Truncate touches down at Tide this June, wielding the hard-hitting energy that defines both his sound and City Wall Records’ uncompromising vision of techno. Metallic, mesmeric and stripped of pretence, the label has built its identity around sophisticated, no-nonsense club music that lands with force rather than frills.

Emerging from California’s DIY desert and warehouse circuit, David Flores – better known as Truncate – has carved out a reputation through relentless production and DJ sets grounded in acid, industrial scenes and grassroots culture.

His discography has been shaped by the spaces he’s moved through, blending psychedelic house, hypnotic techno and hardcore in a way that nods to early underground Detroit, while pushing forward with fast-paced, contemporary production.

His solo output has gained global momentum, with support from genre pioneers such as Modeselektor, alongside appearances at major festivals including Dimensions and Awakenings.

Finally, it’s the UK’s turn. Together with City Wall Records, the DJ and producer now comes to Brighton to quench his thirst for something new and untold. From the sweat-soaked intensity of Berghain to Brighton’s shoreline, this set trades underground concrete for coastal freedom. All powered by a Funktion-One sound system hidden beneath Tide’s arched structure.

I caught up with Truncate ahead of his arrival in Brighton.

There’s a raw physicality to your sound. What continues to draw you towards that style of techno? I’ve always liked simplicity. You don’t need too many elements to make something good and with a stripped-down raw sound you can really let each element shine.

What does the ocean or coastline represent for you personally, creatively or emotionally? I live near the beach in Long Beach, California, and I’ve always loved being near the ocean. People seem more chilled than in big cities, and I’ve always been drawn to that. Even though my music doesn’t always reflect where I live, there are elements that capture that oceanic calm.

You’ve played some of the world’s most intense club spaces. What excites you about bringing that energy to a coastal setting like Brighton? I’ll be honest, I’m not sure what to expect, but I know the UK crowds can get a little wild, so I’m excited to throw down some proper techno.
