This British comedian, actor, author, playwright, lyricist and director was one of the leading names of the alternative comedy movement of the 1980s. After graduating from university he became the BBC’s youngest ever scriptwriter and made his first television appearance as a stand up in 1981 on Oxford Road Show. He co-created and appeared in The Young Ones, co-wrote three series of Blackadder and hosted Channel 4’s ground breaking Saturday Live. Since then he has written numerous novels and the musicals The Beautiful Game, We Will Rock You, Tonight’s the Night and the sequel to The Phantom of the Opera, Love Never Dies. 2019 saw him return to stand up comedy after a fifteen year hiatus with a critically acclaimed sold-out UK tour. Now he is back with a brand new show, Authentic Stupidity which promises to be as taboo busting and mind expanding as ever.
