Beer & Cider Raceday Brighton Racecourse

Beer & Cider Raceday

Perched high above the city with sweeping scenic views, Brighton Racecourse sets the scene for one of May’s most easy-going, sun-soaked socials: The Beer and Cider Festival Raceday. Taking place on Fri 29 May 2026, this lively fixture blends the thrill of flat racing with the simple pleasure of a well-poured pint (or a chilled glass of something sparkling).

Gates open in the early afternoon, giving you plenty of time to settle in before the first race thunders into action. Across seven races, expect a mix of emerging talent and seasoned runners tackling Brighton’s famously undulating track, a course as dramatic as the coastline it overlooks.

Whether you’re a seasoned racing fan studying the form or just in it for the atmosphere, this is racing at its most relaxed and accessible. But let’s be honest, this one’s as much about what’s in your glass as what’s on the track. The festival leans into Brighton’s love affair with beer and cider, with bars flowing and the social energy on a high. Expect a broad choice of drinks across the enclosures, alongside classic race-day fare and hospitality packages.

Off the track, the tempo lifts with live music turning the racecourse into a mini festival between races. While the full line-up is typically revealed closer to the date, the promise is simple: good vibes, great drinks and a crowd ready to make a day of it.

Tickets are designed to suit every budget, from laid-back grandstand access to premium enclosures right by the finishing post. Better still, under-18s go free with an adult, making it a surprisingly family-friendly option if you fancy mixing things up.

In a city that thrives on festivals every May, this is a slightly different rhythm – less Fringe, more fizz; less theatre, more turf. Round up your friends, dress for sunshine (optimistically) and prepare for a day where the only challenging decision is: next race… or next round?
