Brilliant Brighton’s Festive Afternoon returns
Brighton city centre will be filled with Christmas cheer on Saturday 5 December as Brilliant Brighton’s Festive Afternoon returns, bringing an afternoon of music, seasonal surprises and independent shopping to the streets from 14:00–18:00.
Expect a lively mix of festive entertainment, with cheerful helpers handing out goodies and performers popping up across the Brilliant Brighton area. Choirs, singers and brass musicians will provide the soundtrack, with appearances from Some Voices, Free Brighton Choir, SHE Choir, South Coast Trombone Choir, Hit The Silk and Jessica Hallam performing carols and Christmas favourites throughout the afternoon.

The popular festive window-dressing competition trail also returns, inviting businesses across the city centre to transform their windows with seasonal displays. Visitors can follow the trail, admire the creativity on show and vote for their favourite. There’s an added incentive to get involved, too: both the winning business and one lucky voter will receive a £100 Brilliant Brighton Gift Card, redeemable at more than 60 participating businesses. Launching on Sat 5 Dec, the trail will run until Sun 3 Jan 2027, giving visitors plenty of time to explore the displays and discover some of the city centre’s independent shops along the way.
Overhead, Brighton’s Christmas lights will add to the atmosphere, casting a festive glow across the streets from mid-November and throughout the season. Funded by more than 500 businesses within the city centre Business Improvement District (BID), this year’s lights are also supported by Costa Coffee.
Taking place alongside Small Business Saturday, the event offers an opportunity to celebrate the local businesses that help give Brighton its distinctive character, while enjoying a little seasonal magic.
Whether you’re shopping for Christmas gifts, following the window trail or simply stopping to enjoy the music, Brilliant Brighton’s Festive Afternoon is a chance to experience the city centre at its most welcoming.
