In the wake of this change, Hazel decides to channel this newfound ability into pursuing a diagnosis for the chronic illness she is experiencing but doesn’t yet understand. A multiple East Coast Music Award winner known for his high energy banjo driven stompers, touching guitar ballads and dry humorous stories, Luedecke has been making a soundtrack to an authentic life for nearly twenty years. Born in Toronto and long time resident of the country near Chester Nova Scotia, Luedecke began recording in the early 2000's DIY folk scene of Halifax. He made his two JUNO winning albums for Black Hen Music in the late 00s with Steve Dawson as producer at Vancouver's famed Factory studio. While on a tour of England in 2009, he met and supported folk roots legend Tim O'Brien who produced Luedecke's next two albums. The Fairy & Dragon Trail at High Beeches Garden This summer, High Beeches Garden welcomes the return of the magical Willow Fairy and Dragon Trail. Come and visit this delightful 25-acre woodland and water garden and discover beautifully crafted willow sculptures hidden across the glades. A circular walk of around an hour allows you to soak up the tranquillity of the garden while you hunt for the fairies and their friends. The trail is suitable for all ages but particularly enjoyable for younger children. East Asian Panorama. Monthly events from the Brighton International Animation Festival showcasing a variety of animation programmes, come down and catch up on any festival programmes you may have missed! July is East Asian Panorama (from 2025)! Special panorama programme featuring the stunning works coming out of East Asia and diaspora, featuring countries including China, Taiwan, Korea and Japan. Tube Film + Q&A: Join the Creative Nonfiction Film Weekend and Brighton Rocks for a screening of Tube Film, a DIY personal documentary co-directed by CNFW's founders Orla Smith and Kimia Ipakchi (they'll be there for a Q&A!). In the film, Kimia films Orla as she goes on the Tube for the first time since having a panic attack there 2 years prior. It's a film about anxiety, willpower, and whether making films can be effective therapy. Maybe it's a bit about friendship too. The documentary is meant to inspire a lot of conversation and debate, so bring your friends and stick around for the discussion afterwards.

Intersections Exhibition | Considering our shared experience of the landscape, KMA Gallery presents Intersections as a space to reflect on the forces that bring us together. Curator Kellie Miller has invited two of our artists who have previously crossed paths as student and tutor many years ago to come together again, sharing their perspectives on the junctions of landscape, humanity and memory. Ceramicist turned painter Kate Wickham has always approached her work in a gestural manner. Based in Sussex but also inspired by Cornwall and France where she often spends time, she finds the spaces between the land and architecture, abstracting the topographical with map and aerial views. Each painting thus becomes multi-dimensional, expanding the visual possibility of the plane through her intricate detailing and clever use of colour. Previously she favoured working on a smaller surface but for Intersections, Kellie invited her to take her work to a larger scale with impressive results. Recomposed by Max Richter: Vivaldi, The Four Seasons A unique concert will take place on the 22nd of August at the atmospheric St. George’s Church in Kemptown, Brighton. Join us for an evening featuring the famous Antonio Vivaldi cycle «The Four Seasons» in the unique interpretation of contemporary composer Max Richter, performed by the extraordinary Mystery Ensemble. Max Richter is the composer of music for dozens of feature films and documentaries. The European Film Academy voted him the best film composer in 2008. He reinterpreted Antonio Vivaldi's music in the spirit of minimalism and postmodernism. Recomposed by Max Richter: Vivaldi, The Four Seasons is one of Richter’s most famous works. After its release in 2012, the recording topped the iTunes Classical Music charts in over 20 countries. The Original Five play Brighton at The Brunswick on Sunday 6th September – this is bluegrass, country and folk music from the south of Sweden. The Original Five mixes traditional bluegrass with their own material, more well-known, crowd-pleasing country songs and musical excursions into both folk music and gospel. Their’s is a wide spectrum of musical experiences that are held together by the band’s solid bluegrass background. The band started in 2010 as a Jam session at Far I Hatten in Folkets Park in Malmö, Sweden, but since then the music has taken them to festivals and gigs all over Europe and of course the homeland of bluegrass, the USA. They have five own studio albums and have enjoyed many collaborations with other musicians over the years, e.g. a live album in collaboration with a Swiss chamber orchestra. “The band has a seasoned bluegrass sound with flavourful country, hillbilly, and Western Swing influences.
