Festival Essentials

Festival season is almost upon us and for many it’s the opportunity to lose yourself to a weekend of pure unadulterated hedonism as you escape the responsibilities of adult life. Whether you’re a seasoned festival-goer or a first timer, read our list of festival essentials curated by the die-hard party people of Brighton and Hove.

Let’s start from the moment you arrive and park up. The trek to the campsite can be perilous (Boomtown, we’re talking to you!) Get yourself a trolley on wheels making the transportation of camping goods a whole lot easier!

Long days in the sun (and longer nights dancing) can take it out of you, so staying hydrated will keep your energy levels up. Electrolytes that can be dissolved in water are a quick and easy way to replenish your body.

You don’t need to slum it just because you’re camping. There are some amazing tents on offer nowadays with separate rooms and blackout features, meaning the inside will stay cooler and you’ll be able to get some decent shut-eye.

A self-inflating mattress and camping chairs instantly elevate your set-up from basic to blissful, while battery-powered fairy lights add a whimsical evening glow. A pop up gazebo is also a good idea for a day shelter where you can listen to music (don’t forget your Bluetooth speaker!) and have a few pre-drinks before heading out again.

Buying a head torch is a great idea for finding lost items and navigating in the dark safely. Showers are usually available at festivals and you don’t want a soggy towel, so purchasing a microfibre towel is a small but mighty addition, quick-drying and compact.

Food can be expensive and all that partying may shrink your appetite. Keep it simple, Pot Noodles are a lifesaver, you can usually borrow hot water from vendors, making them a warm, easy meal when you need it most.

When it comes to electronics, solar-powered chargers will keep your phone alive for those all-important photos and meet-up messages. Mark your territory with a flag to find your tent, trust us, after a long day, every tent looks identical.
