Filthy Gigdog comedy Brighton: Angela Barnes with Anthony Ayton + Joe Foster
Every day, NHS staff across Sussex go above and beyond for their patients. Supporting them every step of the way is My Charity, the dedicated NHS charity for University Hospitals Sussex, helping provide care that goes beyond what core NHS funding alone can deliver.
Through local generosity, My Charity funds projects that make hospital experiences more comfortable, personal and innovative. Donations provide vital medical equipment, improve hospital environments, support pioneering research and enhance patient care.
The charity supports hospitals across Sussex, including Princess Royal Hospital, Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital, Royal Sussex County Hospital, Southlands Hospital, St Richard’s Hospital, Sussex Eye Hospital and Worthing Hospital. Its fundraising events strengthen links between local communities and their NHS. One of its newest initiatives is Filthy Fridays (and Sleazy Saturdays), a comedy series created with Filthy Gigdog Promotions, launching at The Old Market, Hove, on Fri 13 Nov.
The opening night features award-winning Mock the Week regular and former NHS worker Angela Barnes, bringing razor-sharp stand-up to a multi-comic bill supporting NHS hospitals across Sussex, alongside some of Brighton’s best emerging comedy talent.
Angela is a BBC Radio 4 favourite, having appeared on The Now Show and The News Quiz, including a recent stint as host. She also hosted BBC Radio 4 Extra’s Newsjack and co-hosted We Are History with John O’Farrell. Now teamed up with Podmasters, the history podcast has reached six series and more than 1 million downloads. The comedy continues with Mark Watson on 30 Jan 2027, with further gigs to be announced. Run by Kev Heritage and Guy Lloyd, Filthy Gigdog Promotions has spent more than 15 years producing acclaimed comedy nights, Fringe shows and special events across Sussex. Its partnership with My Charity combines live entertainment with fundraising for local hospitals.
Round up your friends for a funny night out at The Old Market while supporting your local NHS. Seventy per cent of all profits from Filthy Fridays go directly to My Charity, helping patients, families and staff across Sussex.
