How personal experience inspired Hove Hair Clinic founder’s mission to restore confidence.

For Sarah, founder of Hove Hair Clinic, hair loss isn’t just something she treats every day – it’s something she’s lived through herself. At just 15 years old, she developed a severe scalp condition that left her embarrassed, isolated and the target of school bullies.

Despite countless visits to doctors, no one could identify the problem, with different shampoos and creams only making it worse. It wasn’t until her mum drove her over an hour to see a trichologist that she finally received a diagnosis of pityriasis amiantacea, bringing enormous relief after years of uncertainty.

Although treatment eventually cleared the condition, the experience stayed with her. Years later, while backpacking around New Zealand, Sarah experienced another devastating setback with further dramatic hair loss. “Around two-thirds of my hair came out in the shower,” she recalls.

Determined to help others avoid the same emotional journey, Sarah opened Hove Hair Clinic in 2007 after being personally trained by the trichologist who had helped transform her own life. Nearly two decades of experience have helped thousands of clients regain both their hair and confidence.

The clinic welcomes men, women and children, treating clients aged from four to over 80 years old for a wide range of concerns including scalp conditions, stress-related hair loss and different forms of alopecia.

Each client begins with a detailed consultation, exploring everything from medical history and diet to stress levels and family history. Using specialist microscopic imaging that magnifies the scalp 200 times, Sarah can closely examine follicles before creating a tailored treatment plan combining home care with in-clinic therapies where needed.

One of the clinic’s newest treatments, Calecim® Professional Hair System, has quickly become its most popular. The natural treatment works by supporting cell-to-cell communication within the scalp to encourage healthier hair growth, with many clients seeing visible improvements within just six weeks.

Sarah added, “Our products are for everyone, not just those experiencing hair loss or scalp conditions. They are designed to promote healthier, thicker hair. We strongly promote ‘prevention is better than cure’ and are seeing more and more young men and women who want to prevent hair loss. The earlier you do something, the better the results. Our slogan is ‘Show your hair you care’.”

Discover Brighton readers can also enjoy £10 off an initial consultation at Hove Hair Clinic.
