One Garden Brighton May

29 Apr, 2025

May brings longer days, warmer air and a gentle buzz of activity to One Garden Brighton. Whether you’re after a moment of calm, something creative for the kids, or a chance to enjoy good food and music in the fresh air, there’s plenty to look forward to.

Early May Bank Holiday Weekend

Start the month with a relaxed bank holiday weekend. Wood-fired pizza from 800 Degrees will be available all three days, and on Bank Holiday Monday live music returns to the lawns. Bring a blanket, find a sunny spot and enjoy the atmosphere. Don’t forget, it’s free to enter, always.

May half-term & Spring Bank Holiday

To mark National Children’s Gardening Week, we’re planning a range of simple, hands-on activities to inspire young gardeners. Expect a relaxed atmosphere, with live music, family-friendly food and space to explore.

One Market

Open daily for tea, coffee, deli-style lunches and snacks, One Market is also home to a wide range of local produce and handmade goods from Sussex makers. It’s a lovely place to pick up something a little different. This month, there’s also 10% off when you buy six bottles of Plumpton Estate Wine—an easy way to enjoy a taste of English wine at home. Plus, our Plant Market is open, filled with OGB-grown plants and helpful gardening advice.

Midweek activities for little ones

Buds Playgroup now runs three days a week in the Heritage Barn, with Wotamess offering open-ended, creative play. Story Moves sessions also continue, combining storytelling and movement in a gentle, engaging way. See more of our midweek children’s activities online.

Looking ahead

Dates for the diary as we approach the start of summer: in June it’s festival season, with the Sustainability Festival returning packed full of inspiring talks, discussions and films, (14 June), alongside the 2025 Tree Festival (14 & 21 June), where our guided tours will share the stories behind some of One Garden Brighton’s most-loved trees. Quantum Theatre comes to us this August with a fresh take on Beatrix Potter’s much-loved classic, The Tale of Jemima Puddle-Duck—one not to be missed!

There’s always something happening in the garden. Keep an eye on our website for the latest events, activities and seasonal updates.
