SpiegelGardens Brighton returns

The glitter, the glamour, the gloriously unhinged energy of springtime in Brighton can mean only one thing: SpiegelGardens is back, and it’s ready to take over your May.

Returning as part of Brighton Fringe 2026, SpiegelGardens once again transforms the city into a riot of colour, creativity and late-night mischief from 1–31 May. At its heart sit the iconic Spiegeltent and its equally fabulous sibling the WundaBarn. These two venues feel less like performance spaces and more like portals into another, slightly sparkly dimension.

This is where Brighton comes to play. Expect a heady mix of award-winning international shows, cutting-edge cabaret, circus theatre and delightfully offbeat experiences, all wrapped up in that unmistakable Fringe buzz. Whether you’re chasing belly laughs, a jaw-dropping spectacle or something a little bit bonkers, SpiegelGardens delivers.

Opening night sets the tone in style, with a DJ set from Olugbenga (Metronomy), before the party spills into the Spiegelpub for dancing long into the night. From there, it’s a non-stop parade of talent. Fan favourite An Evening Without Kate Bush returns following sold-out success, while Police Cops celebrates a decade of cult hit The Original.

There’s a strong queer pulse running through this year’s programme too, including a brand-new commission from Brighton-based artist Alex Fincher, created in partnership with Marlborough Productions. Expect bold ideas, big energy and performances that don’t play by the rules.

Names like Bourgeois & Maurice, David Hoyle and Boogaloo Stu add extra sparkle to an already dazzling line-up.

Families are firmly on the guest list, with a free Family Fun Day on the first Saturday featuring stilt walking, face painting and joyful chaos for all ages. As the sun sets, things shift into high gear with interactive events like Not Another Quiz Night and mind-bending moments from magician-comedian Pete Heat.

Inclusivity remains at the heart of SpiegelGardens, with a partnership with Stay Up Late’s Gig Buddies helping more people access live music and nightlife.
