Join lexicographer, best-selling author and Queen of Dictionary Corner, Susie Dent, as she explores the curious, unexpected and surreal origins of the words that we use every day. Starting her career compiling bilingual and English dictionaries, her boss at Oxford University Press suggested she appear on the Channel 4 show Countdown. After declining at first, she eventually agreed and began her tenure in 1982. In this captivating show you will hear some of the funniest stories from her 25 years on the show as well as her time on 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown. Learn some of Susie’s favourite words from the towns and regions that she visits and there will be a chance to ask questions about the past and future of our language.
