Empowering Artists & Makers Across Sussex.

Amidst the vibrant Brighton art scene is The Maker’s Fair that has built its reputation as a trusted Artist and Maker event brand, offering high quality art and handmade wares at in-person fairs.

The Maker’s Fair is an artist-owned business run by Brighton based maker, Lauren Hayes. Her vision was to create events where artists are the main attraction – no frills and gimmicks; just a simple showcase and selling platform where visitors know they can expect quality, contemporary designs. She revealed, ‘Coming from an art background, I set out to create a platform that resonates with fellow artists and visitors alike. I believe The Maker’s fair stands out for its simplicity, quality, and focus on celebrating handmade craftsmanship. Our events always put the makers front and centre. Not only do we aim to create a friendly shopping experience , we also hope that visitors will come away feeling inspired to turn their hand to something new.’

Building a makers community

As well as being a platform to showcasing art and design; it’s also about fostering connections and nurturing a supportive network of artists and makers. This year, The Maker’s Fair launched The Makers Brunch, a casual networking morning for any creative, looking to meet like-minded people in their community. This year, other exciting initiatives are underway, including personal development courses specifically tailored for artists. Collaborating on this project is Michael Craven, a former educator, artist and co-owner of The Fiveways Arts & Crafts shop at Fiveways in Brighton.
